The People Who Changed My Life Without Knowing
There are people who walked into my life quietly, and left a strong mark without even realising it. No big speeches, no special promises, they was just being themselves but unknowingly, they helped me shape the person I'm becoming today. I don't even think they know how much they saved me, how they inspired me, or how they made me see life different. Sometimes, it’s the smallest things they do, or just the way they carry themselves that touches you the most. This post is my little way of appreciating those silent life changers
One of them was a stranger I met inside a danfo bus during a very bad day in Lagos. I was frustrated and broke, thinking about how life dey go hard, when this woman started praying quietly for herself. I don’t know what pushed me to listen but somehow, the way she spoke to God with so much faith touched something in me. She didn’t look rich, but her hope was big. That prayer made me cry silently. Since that day, I started praying differently too, with more heart and belief
Another person was my old neighbour, Mr. James. He always greet everybody, no matter who you are. Even when you no answer him, he will still smile and move on. There was a day I was angry and just shouted anyhow for nothing. Instead of fighting me, he told me something I’ll never forget "People fight inside because they’re hurting. But don’t let your pain make you pass pain to others.” That day was the beginning of how I started controlling my temper better
And then, there's this girl on social media I follow. She share her story about how she beat depression by starting small small with things she love. She didn’t know I was reading everything silently. Because of her, I started writing again. I started taking pictures. I started expressing myself more. She gave me light during one dark time, and she no even know me
Sometimes the people who change our lives are not family or close friends. Sometimes, they are strangers, neighbours, or just someone passing by. They don’t give you money or rescue you with big things. They just live in a way that make you reflect and change
I’m writing this post because I feel it’s time to say thank you, even if they never get to read this. I just want to put it out there that they matter. That their little actions gave me strength
If you are reading this, maybe you too have touched someone’s life without knowing. So never stop being kind, or living in a good way. You might be someone’s silent blessing
