Now-notorious Jungle, located in the Amsterdam vicinity, used to be a cluster of disused factories and abandoned warehouses; microcosms of the urban post-industrial decay. When the region's industry started to diminish, these antiquated sites were not maintained and thus became dismal and decrepit in the heart of Amsterdam.

The people of Amsterdam were determined not to let this sacred city territory be squandered. Consequently, some environmentalists and creatives who were powered by their ambition for something superb in this blighted hub decided to take the lead. Their commitment and effort were the basis for the birth of the Amsterdam Jungle.

It is truly remarkable that the Amsterdam Jungle houses an impressive array of biodiversity. While the bustling streets of the city seem an unconventional refuge for wildlife, many faunal and floral species have located their home in this urban retreat.
