Young graduates: do this one thing to be different from others
Young graduates: do this one thing to be different from others
Concerning this week’s prompt, I could not help but add my experiences as advice to the young graduates who have just left school. As a graduate, I know what it means to be a graduate and also the challenges faced by many graduates, especially those from environments where it is difficult for graduates to get job opportunities. One of the reasons for going to school is to get a job after school and lead a comfortable life. However, in most cases, it is not so. Many graduates are roaming the streets looking for what to do, some of them have left school many years ago, yet they have yet to find anything reasonable to do for themselves. These are the things faced by many graduates. The amazing part of it is that yearly, the school system is churning out these graduates in their thousands with no requisite workforce that will cater to the needs of these graduates.
Having this fact, it will take a wise graduate to take a different perspective so that his/her life might not be like that of their contemporaries. So in this case, I would advise graduates to spend a few years of their lives and learn a skill. Having a skill will stand you out from other graduates. Having school knowledge is not enough; the ability to translate this knowledge into meaningful skills is what makes a difference. Skills that are relevant in society and not some outdated skills. Why am I saying this? In case you are unable to secure a good-paying job, you can also make use of your skills and still be relevant in society.
Moreover, as a graduate, consider creating a job for yourself rather than searching for one. Becoming an entrepreneur is better than working for some organizations. The benefit is that through such efforts, you help create jobs for yourself and other graduates, and also contribute to the growth of the state's economy, which in turn leads to the state's development.
This is the simple advice I can give to young school leavers.
Yes, learning a skill is very important in this new economy system where nothing, not even your degrees, is a guarantee for a good job. I've seen cases where a skill ended up being better than a paid job, so I agree so that graduates can have something to rely on when the job isn't forte coming.
That's right. Thanks for stopping by
You are welcome
