One of the challenges likely to be faced by people in a long-distance relationship is trust issues. The trust issue is not only applicable in a long-distance relationship but in virtually all relationships. The human body is built to get used to people who are around you hence there is a high propensity for those who are in a relationship from afar to get themselves entangled with people who are around them.

However, not all long-distance relationships are faced with trust issues, every relationship has its peculiar problems and challenges but the majority of the problems arise from infidelity occasioned by a long-distance relationship.

To enjoy a long-distance relationship and to make it work out, the issue of trust and infidelity must first of all be ruled out and the partners involved must learn to trust each other on that aspect. As it is often said once bitten twice shy, both partners should guide against every act that might instigate trust issues and deal with such. What do I mean? Both partners must give themselves reasons to trust each other knowing that trust is earned over time and not gotten on a platter of gold.

I think that every long-distance relationship that has surmounted the tides and challenges that are associated with it happens to be the best of all relationships. This is because, the moment you can pass all temptations and troubles as a result of your partner being away for some time, then the foundation of the relationship is solidified. Moreover, I also think that the truest form of a relationship is that of a long distance because no one is there to monitor each other and everyone is left to his / her conscience.

One of the things that keeps a long-distance relationship going is healthy communication apart from the trust issue I earlier mentioned. The role of effective communication should not be overlooked. Where communication is lacking, relationships of any kind cannot thrive. People in a long-distance relationship should make use of a communication channel that is best for them and they must ensure that it is not abated. Where communication is lacking then there will be room for suspicion. And where suspicion is, there will be trust issues.

A lot of people believe in long-distance relationships and it works for them, but for them, I don't know if I can truly believe in a long-distance relationship. Because I have trust issues naturally and I know that I may not be able to commit a friend from a distance without misbehaving.

Long-distance relationships would certainly work out well when the two people trust each other and where there is no iota of suspicion. Secondly, where communication thrives, it can also work out successfully. In summary, before one begins a long-distance relationship, he/she must consider these factors and they must be deliberate at keeping to each other's promises.
