The hassle with using public transportation in local areas

I decided to constrict the challenges with public transportation to local areas because I come from a local area and what I am about to share is more of the experiences I have had. I don't know if public transportation systems in a developed state exhibit some of these characteristics.

I have used public vehicles as well as private vehicles to places so I can make a comprehensive comparative analysis of the two transport systems. Both have advantages and disadvantages but in a comparative analysis, one must be preferred over another. In developing areas, the public transportation business is very lucrative as lots of people have invested heavily in it. The government only plays a regulatory role in bringing orderliness and sanity to the sector. Hence public transportation is controlled and owned by private individuals to maximize profits at the end of the day.

Besides the government that legislates the public transportation sector, there are also unions and organizations that these transporters belong to. The organizations seek to protect the interests of their members and protect their rights from being infringed. Having this background, it is necessary to understand how the public transportation sector operates in local areas.

Common challenges you'd likely face while using public transportation

Inconveniences

The word “convenient” is not in the dictionary of public transport. If you need convenience use your private vehicle. What happens is this, the vehicle will likely carry more passengers than what the vehicle was meant to carry. Most times a 14-seater bus will carry about 20 people. With this, passengers are already uncomfortable. If you complain about this, the driver will tell you to get down and look for another vehicle that he's out here to make a profit. The truth is, over carrying passengers is their modus operandi. Besides the over-bloated passengers, other inconveniences may include, dirty vehicles, dirty passengers, and faulty vehicles. All of these pose a danger to passengers.

You may be late to work or business

Before using public transport keep in mind that you may likely not get to your destination on time. This is because the vehicle must carry a certain number of passengers before moving. Remember that it's for profit making, so don't expect the driver to drive you alone to your destination. In the course of looking for other passengers, you might end up not getting to your destination on time.

Unfriendly drivers/passengers

This is inevitable in public transportation. Some drivers and car owners are so unfriendly and insulting. Most of them lack courtesy. They can talk down on passengers anyhow no matter who the person is. You may likely meet a lousy and ill-mannered passenger too. All of these affect the smooth journey passengers are supposed to have.

Using public transportation can be problematic and chaotic sometimes but most of the time, it can be interesting because you are likely going to relate with people from different backgrounds and perspectives. In the course of journeying with others, we may learn one or two things. Also, using public transportation you may meet a business partner, a spouse, or a helper. But in all of these, one must consider some factors before deciding on which system of transportation he wants.
