I had a long but interesting conversation with a friend in my office. We discussed many topics till we began to talk about forex, cryptocurrency as well as football betting. It was at this point that our conversation became interesting. In the course of the discussion, he said that forex trading, cryptocurrency and football betting belong to the same family group, and they are all gambling. He emphasized that they all have equal chances of winning and or losing. Therefore, he cannot invest his hard-earned money in things he does not have an assurance of winning. His point, I must say, was convincing, no doubt, but I realized that he lacked a deeper understanding or knowledge about the things he said. In the course of trying to change his mindset, he said that he had done the three things for years but decided to do away with them because they were depressing and emotionally draining. I told him that he was right no doubt.

However, I put it across to him that everything about this life is gambling. I told him that gambling is anything with equal chances of winning and losing. Everything we do in this life is nothing but gambling. I told him that going to bed at night and hoping to wake up the following day is more like gambling because you might not wake up. Also, starting a business is a gamble because anything can happen in the course of time and the business grumbles. I told him that the things he has an assurance of winning are not absolute. Nothing in this life is one hundred per cent safe. Anything can happen over time. I told him how my mom began a business selling provisions; the business was growing. Through the business, she was able to put us through school and pay some of her bills. It was a business with a physical presence. Unfortunately, the business grumbles. The point is that many people think that there are things that they can do and it's a hundred percent safe without losses.

Life is all about taking risks. Those who have taken the risk understand that it's either you lose, or you win, and so is everything we do in life. Hence do not be afraid to engage in the things you would like to because you're afraid of losing. Losing is part of life. You might end up criticizing and condemning those who are into betting, calling them gamblers and all sorts of names, yet in the morning, you will dress up and go to work, and you think that you're not gambling, too. Think about it, you might be sacked any time by your boss, on your way you might be involved in an accident, things might generally take a new turn. So, everyone is gambling, whether with a high risk or minimal risk, they are all the same.

As we gamble each day, it's either we win or we lose. If we lose, we learn a lesson, and if we win, we enjoy.
