Having What To Eat; My Primary Instigator

Having What To Eat; My Primary Instigator

This week’s hive Naija prompts are interesting, as usual; hence, I am submitting my entry.

The primary need of man is food. Others are secondary. Ordinarily, food ought not to have been a problem of man. This is because nature has a way of providing food for man. The only role that man is supposed to play is to till the ground and plant food. In essence, food is supposed to have been the easiest commodity to afford, but society has made it the most expensive. Food shouldn’t have been a problem for mankind at all. In our society, food happens to be the most expensive commodity. People spend more than half of their earnings on food, yet they are not well-fed. I have been in a situation whereby feeding myself three square quality meals was a difficult task, talking more of feeding another person. This was because my financial capacity could not carry it at that time. Hence, I had to go the extra mile to change the narrative. Most times, whenever I walk along the street and see food I would love to eat but I cannot afford it, I would end up blaming myself for not working hard to be able to afford it.

I cannot imagine myself waking up and not having food to eat; it would be a big shame for me because everything in me is working well. I can think, I can walk, I can make use of my body parts effectively and efficiently yet I cry of hunger. Let it be that I cannot afford other things in life, it is understandable, but the mere fact that I go about begging for food is one thing that I pray against. This is why, most times, when I don’t feel like working, I will remember that there is hunger in the land; hence, I can only conquer such by working hard. There is a local parlance in my locality that says, “The hands that work do not die of hunger”. This is so true because the hands that work hard do not die of hunger, but the lazy ones will certainly die of hunger.

For a person who does not have food to eat, if hunger is not enough motivator to make you want to work hard then I don’t think anything would. Hunger has a way of making someone think outside of the box, hence unleashing your potential and creativity. One thing is certain: anyone who provides food for you controls your life and dictates the outcome of your life. This is why I always tell grownups that no matter what happens do not let anyone feed you unless you are incapacitated. I don’t know for others but for me, what keeps me motivated whenever I feel unmotivated to continue is because I wouldn’t want to beg for food. I have people depending on me for survival. How it would be that one day, I would tell them that there is no food and no money to buy.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

It might be funny, but truly all what we are struggling for in this life , is just to put food on our table

This is quite a true statement. What pushes you to hustle more than the fear of going to bed hungry without hope for food the next day. Nicely done.✨
