Discontinuation of the vibes Web3 Music Competition: A hard decision that leaves participants in disarray

I woke up this morning to a very disturbing announcement from @lordbutterfly, the originator of the Vibes Web3 Music Competition on Hive. A competition that began about 42 weeks ago. There is no doubt that the Vibes Web3 Music Competition was the largest music competition ever hosted on a Web3 platform.

From the discord channel, he announced the discontinuation of the competition, highlighting some justifiable reasons. It can be recalled that two days ago, @verbal-d also announced his exit from the competition as one of the judges. This news came as a shock to me because I have been following up on this project from the first week of the competition.

I must first and foremost commend @lordbutterfly and his team for sustaining this competition till this moment. Not every project on Hive has stayed this long.

This competition, no doubt, has helped lots of people in building their music career and visual content creation. Some people came to the hive with only the knowledge of writing, but with the advent of the Vibe's music competition, some people could learn how to set up their camera and make videos. Moreover, a lot of people also learned the art of writing music and how to play some musical instruments. Moreover, as a result of this competition, many visited a music studio for the first time in their life. I cannot exhaust the benefits that this competition has brought to participants and the Hive blockchain at large.

Financially, I know of a friend who was able to fund his music studio as a result of the money he won from the music competition. Another was able to get a laptop while another got a new mobile device. All these are a result of the vibes of the Web3 Music Competition.

Many factors would have necessitated this decision from @lordbutterfly. I know how disappointing it can be to begin a project, and in the long run, many people you expected to be behind you seem far away. Moreover, it's demoralising dealing with people who are egoistic and self-centred. Whatever might have fueled this decision, I am not in any way blaming anyone, but I do say that the entire hive community will miss this project.

(My first thumbnail for the competition)

Vibes Web3 Music Competition was an avenue of announcing #hive to the world. Many people came to hear of Hive as a result of the vibes competition. Many people were unboarded and till today they're engaging effectively on the platform.

I wish that @lordbutterfly erfly could have a second thought on this decision and/or restructure the music competition that will also be favourable to all parties involved. This would go a long way to filtering those who came to benefit from the system rather than contributing.

I know how demanding it is to single-handedly find a project and keep it running.

I will forever miss the Vibes Web3 music competition.
