My strongest memories of my mum would have to be all the good food she used to make. The home cooked meals were just the best, I probably did not recognise it or appreciate at the time but they were something special. I think this photo above would have been my birthday special dinner of roast chicken and chips. The present might of been my first digital watch, the watch was cool but I was still focused on getting that food eaten as well.

She was good with all the other family things too but I am not the best at expressing all the love, caring and emotional stuff.

Another big memory of mine of mum was finding out all her past before me. It was interesting to learn about things they had only ever talked about briefly. Emigrating to the other side of the world must have been a big step back in the 1950s away from all there family and friends.

I think Mum had it pretty tough growing up as she was the youngest of 5 and both her parents died when she very young. The family were all split up between Uncles and Aunts all over the Manchester area of England. I got to visited her brothers, sisters and extended family when I back packed through the U.K back in the 1990s. They were all welcoming and it was great learning about some of my family history.

I can happily report Mum is still going strong and is still here as she like to tell me each time we visit.

Lovely post and family photo! this quote definitely rings true, so many meals I'll sadly never get to experience again, didn't appreciate them as I should have in the moment.

I probably did not recognise it or appreciate at the time but they were something special.

Memories of mother is the best, which are beautiful as well as painful sometimes.

The sacrifices made by a mother! I also took for granted all that my mother did for me.
One funny memory to me, but a time consuming task for my mum, was her going through the vacuum cleaner bag to make sure that none of our Star Wars Figure's guns had been picked up from off of the carpet. 😻
