5 Seconds of Summer es una banda juvenil que interrumpió en el escenario de One Direction y Big Time Rush. En esas fechas apenas BTS empezaba sus primeros pasos en Corea del Sur, sin embargo, se han mantenido hasta ahora, a diferencia de la primera, el segundo y el tercero (los miembros de BTS en su mayoría están prestando servicio militar).

Cada una de estas bandas musicales ha tenido su fama y repercusión. Me gusta en particular la canción Teeth lanzada en el año 2019. Las razones van desde una filmografía espléndida, un escenario en el videoclip abstracto y una sensación en la pista musical sensacional.

La letra de la canción dilucida un amor dañino, cruel y tóxico. ¿Dicen que los amores tóxicos son adictivos? ¡No lo puedo negar! Cada quien ha sido víctima una que otra vez. Usas una relación dañina como concepto, merece todos los créditos del mundo. Hace hincapié en una realidad clara y evidente en la juventud. Los jóvenes Z no tenemos relaciones amorosas perfectas. Quizás hasta cierto punto se pueden volver un problema.

¿Aspectos que me parecen impactantes en el videoclip? 1) La manera en que cambian los escenarios, hay una introducción y de repente pasan a contarte los hechos que combinan con la letra musical. 2) La paleta de colores oscura le da una forma única al video musical y, sobre todo, la utilización del color rojo hace resaltar momentos únicos. 3) La escala de vocalización es una obra maestra; es decir, la canción pasa de escalas muy suaves a otras muy fuertes y rápidas.

Por cierto, 5 Seconds of Summer También es conocido como 5SOS. La banda está integrada por Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford, Calum Hood y Ashton Irwin, o sea, cuatro miembros. Los géneros de Teeth rompen la tradicional forma en que 5SOS venía cantando e incorpora Industrial pop, grunge que es una mezcla de punk rock y el heavy metal y de rock. Una apuesta en un contexto donde la música, de cierto modo, se ha vuelto monótona. Es decir, que se arriesgaron.

Mi parte favorita de esta canción inicia con esta frase: Peleas sucio, pero tu amor es dulce (…) Hay una clara forma definitiva del tono musical y lo que desean reflejar. Además de que en esa parte es donde se notan claramente las escalas de vocalización.

Hay un mensaje que también me gusta dentro de la canción y es sobre la mentira. Nada dura para siempre y no es eterno. A modo de ver, no es permanente. Todo se descubre y desmorona.

Lo mejor de la música es poder sentirla, escucharla y ver el mensaje invaluable que desean transmitir quienes la cantan o han creado. Te leo en los comentarios.
