What a disaster. You both thought that you were doing sdomething heroic by rescuing the chicken but you put your family and others in danger. It is great that your mom and everyone was spared from harm. However, you were still young children not even teenagers. The lesson should have been about the dangers of playing with matches.

I had to take my time to read this story again, it kept bringing that deep sense of guilt all over again. Then we thought it was something heroic and not being sensitive enough to check the danger's our approach might pose. Thanks for your comment, I really appreciate.
Also, I very well agree with you about what the lesson could have been, it came to mind and also that our smallest careless moments could lead to something life-threatening(might not be about matchsticks or fire). The lessons could have been well detailed, what was on my mind while writing was also to keep the word count, that’s why I chose to let the lesson be as such believing it should encompass all that I couldn't let out, would do well to do well next time.
