Kakis — Caquis (En/Es)
The persimmon or kaki is a typic fruit of the autumn, personally I do not like it very much.
It is native of Asia, and its name in English: “kaki” comes from the Japanese.
In the northern hemisphere its harvest is close with the Catholic festivity of the “All Saints' Day” (November 1st), due to this reason in Spanish it is also known as “palosanto” (saint tree).
Currently we can find it in the supermarkets and grocery stores in the Southern Hemisphere (in particular in Chile).
I share in this post a series of photos of this fruit taken in the supermarket, the images are in colour and black and white. The different black and white versions were obtained by using different “processing methods” of the images.
El caqui es un fruto típico del otoño, aunque personalmente no me gusta mucho.
Es originario de Asia y el nombre que se utiliza en castellano, viene del idioma japonés ”kaki”. Como su cosecha coincide en el hemisferio norte con la fiesta religiosa (católica) del “Día de Todos los Santos” (el primero de noviembre), también se le llama “palosanto”.
En el hemisferio sur (en especial en Chile) ya se encuentras disponibles en los supermercados y mercados.
Hoy comparto una serie de fotografías tanto en color como en blanco y negro de este fruto, que encuentro interesantes. Las diferentes versiones en blanco y negro se obtuvieron usando distintos procedimientos de “revelado” (digital).

Here, in South Africa, it is also available now, but it is not a very common fruit here, it is only recently that it became available here.
