Last Featheredfriday For This Year

Happy Friday,

Actually it is Featheredfriday, moreover the last for 2023. Soon we will be stepping into the New 2024 and I very much hope to be a better year in general. Looking back I can say this year was full with emotions. Mostly nice. But since we are in a Feathered friends community I am not dwelling on my personal life. The year was good, very good indeed, thinking how many birds I have encountered and how many of them for the first time. Perhaps, the family of the Long-eared Owl was the pinnacle. However, any bird I managed to photograph was like finding a treasure.

Yesterday I finally decided to go to the beach and to find the swans. As you probably remember, but if not, let me tell you that each winter the swans arrive from Northern Europe on our beach in Varna. The weather for Christmas and after that stays warm with temperatures around 15°C. Just perfect for walk with the camera in search of birds. Before I reached the beach, I looked around, crossing the paths and alleys of the Sea Garden. I took a turn that let me to a nook with a bench and no road further to the beach. But there I heard familiar chirp and I knew a robin was near. I did not believe that the bird actually was nearer and instead of flying way, hopped in front of me so close I could touch it. I had to step back, otherwise I could not focus.

Among the dry leaves there were seads and the robin wasn't bothered at all that was clicking and cursing the camera that was not responding and I had to change to manual focus for awhile.

I should have some seeds, sure enough if I have in my hand, the bird would take them.

The robin wasn't alone, a Great tit joined the feast.

I am glad I got both birds in a frame.

But the next photo of the robin with spread wings and stretched legs is my favourite.

I have to crop it, so you can see more details.

You see I was attracted more by the robin, who continued to pose. Hopped on the bench and let me make more photos.

And one last shot.

You may wonder what happened with the swans. Well, this will be another post, that I will prepare soon. So, stay tuned and happy birding!

Love the robin shots! I've been having a blast birdwatching this days; weather is foggy so not that great lighting conditions, but I'm bound to have some decent photos as well. Just seeing a white throater dipper today, even if all photos come out crap (likely) was enough to make my day. Cheers to a 2024 full of awesome birding! !BEER

Aww, what a delight to find the white throater dipper. I wish to see that bird too. 😀
The last new bird for me is the redwing, photos are not good, but I keep on seeing it every day and may have better and decent photo to share.
Cheers and have a great start of the New Year!

I'll see which photos are worthy of at least appearing on post; I'll surely have enough for a few contributions! ;)

Happy 2024! !LUV

How sweet that the Robin did not mind your camera. You captured him wonderfully. May the New Year be bright and prosperous for you and full of great success.
