Enjoying the start of the year at the beach with the family [Eng-Esp]

At the start of the new year, 2026, after resting until about 1 p.m., my brother-in-law Rafa invited the whole family to join him at Los Capotes beach, where his partner's brother lives. As a good sister-in-law, I couldn't refuse that invitation. We woke up my son Abrahán and César, who were still sleeping. We got ready around 2:00 a.m. Rafa picked us up in his car. We stopped by Los Apartamentos to pick up my brother-in-law Alberto, bought cassava bread for the soup, soda, and Sevillana (a type of Venezuelan liquor), and headed to the beach that awaited us.

When we arrived, we put our things away and greeted everyone. Sofia and I explored the area; the view was breathtaking, so we didn't wait any longer and plunged into the beach, which looked phenomenal. The water was freezing cold when we got in, but it was refreshing for my body, which had been tired since the day before. The longer I stayed in the water, the better it felt. Sofia and I swam and played a lot. The trick was to stay submerged without being too exposed. After a while, the others joined us. As we chatted, we laughed at my brother-in-law Rafa's antics; he always finds ways to make us laugh.

The homeowner provided us with masks and other snorkeling equipment. My children, my husband, and I took turns using the masks. I absolutely loved this experience; it had been a while since I'd done it. My children were thrilled to see the fish and other marine life there. Later, my brother-in-law's partner called us in for lunch. We all went outside to enjoy a delicious chicken soup. We were very happy with the soup; if I had to give it a 10/10, I'd give it a perfect score. Afterward, we sat down to chat and enjoy the adults' drinks.

As evening fell, the homeowner suggested to Rafa and my husband that they go and retrieve a fish trap he had set out to sea two weeks prior. Without hesitation, they both offered to help him, along with Abraham and the homeowner's nephew. It's a long story, but in short, they successfully retrieved all five traps and returned with a large quantity of fish, mostly corocoro and a small octopus. They immediately made cornmeal fritters, fried some fish, and then it was time to enjoy themselves.

My brother-in-law Alberto had to leave early; he had to work the next morning, so we took advantage of the opportunity and went with him. Rafa drove us to our house. We undoubtedly had a wonderful day as a family, sharing and strengthening our bonds of brotherhood and friendship. It had been a while since we had enjoyed such a time with my brother-in-law Rafa and his partner. Today we were going to the Chorritos hot springs in San Antonio del Golfo, but due to the current situation in the country, we couldn't. Disfrutando en la playa el comienzo del año en familia

Hola, comunidad de familia y amigos, me alegra estar de vuelta con ustedes, compartiéndoles un momento maravilloso en familia. Espero que se encuentren excelente; por acá andamos en incertidumbre por el acontecimiento que pasó hoy en Venezuela. Rogándole a Dios que tome el control de esta situación y cubra con su manto sagrado nuestro país, llenándolo de su gracia.
El inicio del año nuevo 2026, después de descansar más o menos como hasta la 1 de la tarde, mi cuñado Rafa nos invitó a toda la familia a que lo acompañáramos a la playa de los Capotes, donde vive un hermano de su pareja; como buena cuñada, no pude rechazar esa invitación. Levantamos a mi hijo Abrahán y a César, que todavía estaban durmiendo. Nos alistamos a las dos y algo; Rafa nos pasó buscando en su carro. Por Los Apartamentos pasamos por mi cuñado Alberto, compramos casabe para la sopa, refresco, Sevillana y rumbo a la playa que nos esperaba.
Al llegar, colocamos las cosas en un sitio, saludamos a los presentes. Sofía y yo inspeccionamos el lugar; la vista era maravillosa, así que no esperamos más y nos sumergimos en la playa que se veía fenomenal. Al meternos, el agua estaba demasiado fría, pero reconfortante para mi cuerpo que se encontraba cansado desde el día anterior; mientras más tiempo pasaba, se sentía bastante bien en el agua. Sofía y yo nadamos y jugamos bastante en el agua. La técnica era estar dentro del agua sin estar mucho al descubierto. Al rato se metieron los demás; mientras conversamos, reíamos de las ocurrencias de mi cuñado Rafa; siempre busca las maneras de hacernos reír.
El dueño de la casa nos facilitó unas caretas y otros implementos para bucear. Mis hijos, yo y mi esposo nos turnamos para usar las caretas. Me encantó demasiado esta experiencia; tenía tiempo que no lo hacía; mis hijos estaban emocionados de ver los peces y otras especies marinas en ese lugar. Luego la pareja de mi cuñado nos llamó a comer; nos salimos todos para disfrutar de una exquisita sopa de pollo criollo. Quedamos conformes con la sopa, si tuviera que darle una puntuación de 10/10. Luego nos sentamos a conversar y disfrutar de las bebidas de los adultos.
Ya cayendo la tarde, el dueño de la casa le propone a Rafa y a mi esposo ir a elevar una Naza que había lanzado al mar hace dos semanas; sin duda ambos se ofrecieron a ayudarlo; adicional, fue Abrahán y el sobrino del dueño. Esto es una historia muy larga de contar; resumiendo, encontraron las 5 Nazas de manera satisfactoria, volvieron con gran cantidad de pescados; la mayoría era corocoro y un pulpo pequeño. Sin duda, pasamos un día maravilloso en familia, compartiendo y estrechando lazos de fraternidad y hermandad. Teníamos tiempo sin disfrutar así junto a mi cuñado Rafa y su pareja. Hoy casualmente íbamos a los Chorritos de aguas termales de San Antonio del Golfo, pero debido a la situación actual del país, no se pudo.
