Hive Basics Guide: Understand DPoS, Rewards, and the Platform's Economy

How are you friends? welcome to one more of my posts, taking advantage that the 3speak platform is under maintenance and I can not upload my audiovisual material I wanted to take this opportunity to share some information that I would have liked to receive in my early days in hive.

As we already know there are many new users in the hive, and it is not superfluous to give small sources of information so that they have a little more knowledge about the blockchain. Today we will talk about something very important, how does Hive work.

¿Cómo están amigos? sean bienvenidos a uno más de mis post, aprovechando que la plataforma de 3speak está de mantenimiento y no puedo subir mi material audiovisual quise tomar ésta oportunidad para compartir una que otra información que me hubiese gustado recibir en mis primeros días en hive.

Como ya sabemos hay muchos usuarios nuevos en la colmena, y no está demás dar pequeñas fuentes de información para que tengan un poco más de conocimiento sobre la blockchain. Hoy hablaremos de algo muy importante, ¿Cómo funciona Hive?.

Hive is based on a delegated proof of participation system (DPoS). This system allows to open a democratic election within the hive in order to choose the tokens of our preference. Node validator tokens can validate all transactions made on the blockchain in addition to validating the creation of hive blocks.

The amount of hive power that the voter has can generate more or less weight in the votes, thus creating a democratic and collective participation.

The creation of Hive blocks is given in the following way.

• Hive has a block time of 3 seconds, which makes it much faster than Bitcoin or Ethereum.

• Each validated token receives turns to create blocks in 63-second cycles.

• If a token fails to produce its block, the turn passes to the next token.

Witnesses receive 15% of the validated hives tokens as a reward for their work. It is a win / win system. While tokens receive rewards for validating transactions, we the users rely on them to keep the blockchain flowing.

The positive points of the DPoS system are that the election is collective and the whole community can be part of it, besides that, tokens are used to validate the creation of hives tokens and that way we would save expenses on expensive hardware and electricity consumption.

Hive se basa en un sistema de prueba de participación delegada (DPoS). Éste sistema permite abrir unas elecciones democráticas dentro de la la colmena para poder escoger los testigos de nuestra preferencia. Los testigos validadores de nodos pueden validar todas las transacciones que se hacen en la blockchain además de validar la creación de bloques hive.

La cantidad de hive power que tenga el votante puede generar más o menos peso en las votaciones, de esa forma se crea una participación democrática y colectiva.

La creación de bloques Hive se da de la siguiente manera.

• Hive tiene un tiempo de bloque de 3 segundos, lo que la hace mucho más rápida que Bitcoin o Ethereum.

• Cada testigo validado recibe turnos para crear bloques en ciclos de 63 segundos.

• Si un testigo falla en producir su bloque, el turno pasa al siguiente.

Los testigos reciben un 15% de los tokens hives validados como recompensa de su trabajo. Es un sistema de ganar / ganar. Mientras los testigos reciben recompensas por validar transacciones, nosotros los usuarios confiamos en ellos para que la blockchain siga fluyendo.

Los puntos positivos del sistema DPoS son que la elección es colectiva y toda la comunidad puede ser parte de ella, además de eso, se utilizan testigos para validar la creación de tokens hives y de esa forma nos ahorraríamos gastos en hardwares costosos y consumo de electricidad.

How to vote. If you have downloaded the Keychain app on your smartphone or PC you can vote in a super simple way. You would only need your active key registered in the app.

¿Cómo votar?. Si tienes descargada la aplicación de Keychain en tu smartphone o PC puedes votar de una manera super sencilla. Solo necesitarías tu clave activa registrada en la app.

In the application in the upper left corner you can click on the three little lines, there you will find new options, choose Governance, there you can vote for the witnesses of your preference. Besides that, you can vote for projects within the hive.

En la aplicación en la esquina superior izquierda pueden dar click en las tres rayitas, ahí dentro encontrarán nuevas opciones, elegirán Gobernanza, ahí pueden votar por los testigos de su preferencia. Además de eso, pueden votar por proyectos dentro de la colmena.
