Top 5 Science Fiction Animes of the Fall Season (2025) | Nattosheru Review [ENG/SPA]
Hello, anime fans. We're back with the last TOP list I'll be doing for this fall season, which ended along with the year 2025. This time, I'll be talking about the science fiction anime I've seen in recent months and that I've personally enjoyed quite a bit, or at least most of them. This is one of the few good things about this season, since this genre is not as commercial or popular as action, fantasy, romance, or adventure. Still, here I am to recognize these little-known works.
As usual, I'm going to rate each anime in this TOP from 1 to 10, starting with the lowest rating and ending with the highest. Remember that everything you read below is solely my personal opinion. Normally, if I like an anime enough to recommend it, I'll mention it clearly at the end. If you're a science fiction fan like me, then I invite you to stay and watch this TOP until the end. You may just find one of those hidden gems that are worth watching.

Hola, fanáticos del anime. Volvemos con el último TOP que haré de esta temporada de otoño que finalizó junto con el año 2025. Esta vez les hablaré de los animes del género de ciencia ficción que he visto en estos últimos meses y que, en lo personal, me han gustado bastante, o al menos la mayoría. Esta es una de las pocas cosas buenas que ha tenido esta temporada, ya que este género no es tan comercial ni popular como lo son la acción, la fantasía, el romance o la aventura. Aún así aquí estoy yo para reconocer estas obras poco conocidas.
Como ya es costumbre, voy a calificar cada anime de este TOP del 1 al 10 y empezaré con el de menor calificación para así ir finalizando con el de mayor calificación. Recuerda que todo lo que leerán a continuación será únicamente mi opinión personal. Normalmente, si me gusta tanto un anime como para recomendarlo, de una lo menciono al final claramente. Si eres fan de la ciencia ficción como yo, entonces te invito a quedarte a ver este TOP hasta el final. Posiblemente estés por encontrarte con una de esas joyas escondidas que merecen la pena ver.

Alma-chan Wants to Be a Family!
Let's start this TOP in a calm but fun way with this anime that mixes science fiction with comedy. It's one of those anime series that goes completely unnoticed each season because its plot, animation, and style of humor don't really appeal to the general public. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Nanateru, this animated adaptation was produced by Studio Flad. The anime tells the story of a couple of geniuses in robotics and artificial intelligence who create Alma, a robot with the appearance of a little girl who learns from everything around her.
At first glance, you might think it's a cute and funny anime, and I won't deny that. However, it's not the kind of anime I like to watch because of its childish comedy. At first, it caught my attention simply because little Alma is a robot, but other than that, there's not much to say about what most of the episodes are about. To sum it up, it's like watching a series of short stories or events in sequence from the daily life of our protagonist along with her creators/parents. Being a robot, she learns basic things about everyday life, but she also constantly gets into trouble.

Empecemos este TOP de una forma tranquila, pero a la vez divertida con éste anime que mezcla la ciencia ficción con la comedia. Es de esos animes que pasan desapercibido completamente en cada temporada por poseer una trama, animación o estilo de humor que no compagina mucho con el público. Basada en la serie de manga homónima escrita e ilustrada por Nanateru, esta adaptación animada fue producida por Studio Flad. El anime nos cuenta la historia de un par de genios de la robótica y la inteligencia artificial que crean a Alma, un robot con apariencia de niña que aprende de todo lo que le rodea.
A simple vista puede que pienses que sea un anime tierno y divertido y no te lo niego. Sin embargo, no es un tipo de anime que me guste ver debido a su tipo de comedia infantil. Al principio me llamó la atención por el mero hecho de que la pequeña Alma es un robot, pero aparte de eso no hay mucho que contar acerca de lo que tratan la mayoría de sus episodios. Para resumir, es como ver una serie de historias o eventos cortos en secuencia de la vida diaria de nuestra protagonista junto con sus creadores/padres. Al ser un robot, aprende cosas elementales de la vida cotidiana, pero también se mete en problemas constantemente.

It has its jokes, references to the world of technology (especially AI), and its characters are likable to a certain extent, you could say. Don't expect any drama, well-animated action scenes, or meaning or logic to most of the things that happen. Don't expect to meet characters with complex developments either, because you won't find them here. You'll just see a lot of weird people with personal problems and strange tastes. I guess nothing in this anime makes sense, except for a few details here and there. It's not an anime that I like, I repeat, and that's why I'm putting it in this position just to complete this TOP.
As for the animation, don't expect much either, as it's an anime that literally no one knows. That's why even the studio in charge is unknown; in fact, it seems to be new. Still, the animation isn't all that bad when compared to another anime that is popular and aired this fall season, but I ended up being quite disappointed (yes, I'm talking about the third season of One Punch Man). What I did like was the opening, and I don't know why. Actually, what I liked was the song, not the animation. Other than that, it's not so bad. So if you're interested, you can watch it, although I don't recommend it.
Personally, I give it a 6/10 rating in terms of the science fiction and comedy genre.

Tiene sus chistes, referencias al mundo de la tecnología (sobre todo de la IA) y sus personajes son agradables hasta cierto punto, podría decirse. No esperes nada de drama, escenas de acción bien animadas ni sentido o lógica a la mayoría de cosas que suceden. Tampoco esperes conocer personajes con desarrollos complejos porque no los encontrarás aquí. Solo verás a mucha gente rara, con problemas personales y gustos extraños. Supongo que nada de lo que hay en este anime tiene sentido, a excepción de uno que otro detalle. No es de lejos un anime que me guste, repito, y por eso lo coloco en este puesto nomás para completar este TOP.
En cuanto a la animación, tampoco esperes mucho al ser un anime que literalmente nadie conoce. Es por eso que ni el estudio a cargo siquiera es conocido, es más, parece ser nuevo incluso. Aún así, la animación no está del todo mal si la comparamos con otro anime que sí es popular y que se emitió en esta temporada de otoño, pero me terminó decepcionando bastante (si, hablo de la tercera temporada de One Punch Man). Lo que sí diré que me gustó fue su opening y no sé por qué. En realidad, lo que me gustó fue la canción que su animación. De resto, no está tan mal. Así que si te interesa, puedes verlo, aunque yo no lo recomiende.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 6/10 en lo que respecta al género de ciencia ficción y comedia.

Touring After the Apocalypse
Let's continue with another little-known science fiction anime that also aired last fall. It's an anime that, honestly, I wanted to watch when I heard about it on social media, and I was quite interested in it... until I managed to watch it in its entirety. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Sakae Saito, this animated adaptation was produced by Nexus studio. The anime tells the story of Youko and Airi, two girls who travel on their solar-powered off-road motorcycle through a post-apocalyptic and completely desolate Japan.
Both the premise and its audiovisual aspect are very striking, and as a fan of post-apocalyptic stories, I decided to watch it for that reason. Even so, I ended up with a Slice Of Life story about tourism mixed with science fiction. A somewhat interesting combination, in my opinion, which I guess gave it that touch I always look for in an anime like this. I had previously made a TOP of Slice of Life anime, and there I made clear my lack of interest in stories about tourism and the like. That's why I thought about dropping this anime at one point, but in the end, I didn't, and I don't regret it.

Sigamos con otro anime de ciencia ficción poco conocido que también se emitió la temporada pasada de otoño. Es un anime que, sinceramente, tuve ganas de ver cuando supe de su emisión en redes y me interesó bastante… hasta que lo logré ver completo. Basada en la serie de manga homónima escrita e ilustrada por Sakae Saito, esta adaptación animada fue producida por el estudio Nexus. El anime nos cuenta la historia de Youko y Airi dos chicas que viajan con su motocicleta solar y todo terreno por un Japón post-apocalíptico y completamente desolado.
Tanto la premisa como su aspecto audiovisual llama mucho la atención y yo, como todo un fan de lo post-apocalíptico, decidí verlo por eso. Aún así, terminé topándome con un Slice of Life de turismo entremezclado con ciencia ficción. Una mezcla un tanto interesante a mí parecer, lo cual supongo que le dió ese toque que siempre busco en un anime como este. Ya antes había hecho un TOP sobre animes Slice of Life y allí dejé claro mi desinterés por las historias de turismos y cosas por el estilo. Es por eso que pensé en cierto momento dropear este anime, pero al final no lo hice y no me arrepiento por ello.

Both the story and its characters have something unique that really grabs your attention, whether it's because of how it's told or the details we learn as the episodes progress. The anime itself focuses on showing us each popular site in Japan, but with a rather post-apocalyptic style, in ruins and completely uninhabited. This atmosphere, mixed with the striking personalities of the protagonists and everything that happens during their journey, manages to generate a variety of different emotions. Among these emotions, you can feel nostalgia, peace, intrigue, sadness, and happiness.
The good thing about this type of anime is that, in terms of animation, it does an excellent job with visual details and landscapes. The animation style is also excellent, sometimes mixing traditional animation with 3D animation. It also has very good visual effects when needed, as well as sound effects that create a natural feel for each environment. And speaking of atmosphere, there is also the soundtrack, which may be the best part of all. In short, this is a perfect anime for those who love calm and interesting stories.
Personally, I give it a rating of 8/10 in terms of the science fiction genre.

Tanto la historia como también sus personajes tienen algo particular que llama bastante la atención. Ya sea por cómo es contada o por los detalles que vamos aprendiendo con el paso de los episodios. El anime en sí se centra en mostrarnos cada sitio popular de Japón, pero con un estilo bastante post-apocalíptico, en ruinas y completamente deshabitado. Este ambiente, mezclado con la llamativa personalidad de las protagonistas y todo lo que ocurre durante su viaje logra generar una variedad de emociones diferentes. Entre dichas emociones puedes sentir nostalgia, paz, intriga, tristeza y felicidad.
Lo bueno de este tipo de animes es que, en cuanto a su animación se refiere, posee un excelente trabajo en lo que respecta a los detalles visuales y los paisajes. El estilo de animación también es excelente, entremezclando la animación tradicional con la animación en 3D a veces. También tiene muy buenos efectos visuales cuando se requiere, además de efectos de sonido que generan esa sensación natural de cada ambiente. Y hablando de ambientación también está su banda sonora, la cual puede ser lo mejor de todo esto. En fin, este es un anime perfecto para los que aman las historias tranquilas e interesantes.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 8/10 en lo que respecta al género de la ciencia ficción.

Dusk Beyond the End of the World
Let's talk now about another post-apocalyptic anime that also caught my attention, especially because of its first and great episode. However, its mix of science fiction with action and romance didn't quite offer a story that completely convinced me, although it did to a certain extent. It is an original japanese animated series produced by the famous studio P.A. Works. This anime tells the story of Akira Himegami, who wakes up out of nowhere in an uninhabited and completely ruined place. The last thing he remembers is being shot while trying to protect the love of his life.
You have no idea how exciting it was to watch this anime at the beginning of last fall season. After the first episode, it showed signs that the story was going to be great, as it was about a young man who wakes up thousands of years in the future in a post-apocalyptic world where society is dominated by a completely radical world government. However, as the episodes progressed and certain characters were introduced, the anime took several turns in the middle and at the end of the season that took away the excitement I had at the beginning.

Hablemos ahora de otro anime post-apocalíptico que también me llamó muchísimo la atención, sobre todo por su primer y gran episodio. Sin embargo, su mezcla de ciencia ficción con acción y romance no terminaron de ofrecer una historia que me convenciera por completo, aunque sí lo consiguió hasta cierto punto. Es una serie animada japonesa original producida por el famoso estudio P.A. Works. Este anime nos cuenta la historia de Akira Himegami, quien despierta de la nada en un lugar deshabitado y completamente en ruinas. Lo último que recuerda es que recibió un disparo al intentar proteger al amor de su vida.
No tienen ni idea de lo emocionante que fue ver este anime al principio de la pasada temporada de otoño. Luego de su primer episodio mostraba señales de que su historia iba a ser grandiosa al tratarse de un joven que despierta miles de años en el futuro en un mundo post-apocalíptico donde la sociedad es dominada por un gobierno mundial y completamente radical. Sin embargo, con el paso de los episodios y la inclusión de ciertos personajes, el anime dió varios rumbos a mitad y al final de la temporada que me quitaron esa emoción que tuve al principio.

I'm not saying that the anime is bad, as it manages to entertain from start to finish with an interesting story, well-developed characters, unexpected plot twists, and secrets that make you want to see what happens next. What I didn't like in the end were certain things that were added to this work as if to reflect certain controversial issues. One of these issues I'm referring to is the topic of polygamy, which is used as a device in the story to justify certain decisions made by some characters. I think it goes without saying, so I'll leave it at that.
Then there's the fanservice, which doesn't surprise me, especially from the studio in charge of this original production. Still, they don't overdo it too much. As for the audiovisuals, I have no complaints. It has excellent animation and a visually pleasing art style. It also has nice details, vivid color palettes, and excellent fluidity in action scenes, as well as excellent visual effects. The sound effects are also impressive, but I would like to highlight the soundtrack for setting the mood well in each scene of this anime. In short, here is an original work full of things that may interest you as well.
Personally, I give it a rating of 8.5/10 in terms of the science fiction, action, and romance genres.

No digo con esto que el anime sea malo ya que cumple con entretener de inicio a fin con una historia interesante, personajes bien desarrollados, giros de trama inesperados y secretos que te hace querer ver lo que sigue después. Lo que no me terminó de gustar al final fueron ciertas cosas que agregaron en esta obra como si de reflejar ciertas cuestiones polémicas se tratara. Una de estas cuestiones a las que me refiero es el tema de la poligamia, la cual se utiliza como un recurso en la historia para justificar ciertas decisiones que toman algunos personajes. Creo que no hace falta decir algo más al respecto, así que ahí te lo dejo.
Además, está el fanservice, lo cual no me sorprende y menos del estudio a cargo de esta producción original. Igual, no exageran mucho con esto. En cuanto a lo audiovisual no tengo nada de qué quejarme. Tiene una excelente animación y un estilo de arte visualmente agradable. También tiene buenos detalles, paletas de colores vivos y una excelente fluidez en escenas de acción, así como efectos visuales excelentes. Los efectos de sonido tampoco se quedan atrás, pero me gustaría destacar más la banda sonora por cumplir con ambientar bien cada escena de este anime. En fin, aquí les dejo una obra original repleta de cosas que te pueden interesar también.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 8.5/10 en lo que respecta al género de ciencia ficción, acción y romance.

We continue with an animated gem that I'm still not sure whether to leave in this TOP, to be honest. The reason for this is because it's not just science fiction, but also dark fantasy, action, romance, comedy, and drama, all divided into several short stories told in eight animated episodes. Based on the famous collection of anthology one-shots known as Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man, this original network animated adaptation (ONA) was produced by six different studios, including Zexcs, Lapin Track, 100studio, and P.A. Works.
To say that it is interesting is an understatement, as this collection of short stories has everything and is not exaggerated in the slightest. From human-eating alien invaders to high school students who stop a bullet with their bare hands. What's fascinating and special about this series is that all the stories were created by one of the most famous and influential mangaka in the east: Tatsuki Fujimoto. That's right, the same man who created the famous anime Chainsaw Man and the movie Look Back is the one who shows us his ingenuity (once again) to tell us his first sordid and emotional stories in this new joint mega-production.

When I saw it at the time, I didn't know how to explain these episodes. Each story is unique and different from the next. They all have a completely different rhythm and mix of elements. That's why I keep wondering (even now as I write this) if it's right to leave it in this position or even in this TOP. Because personally, I feel that it doesn't deserve to be in any top list, it doesn't deserve to be compared to any other anime. There's no need to do so, as what you find when you watch each episode is simply unique. But I'll leave it here anyway, as certain stories have that fictional feel that generates a sense of nostalgia.
One of those stories is the first one in the first episode, by the way, which shows us a world invaded by aliens who eat humans. So, among the few survivors, there are two young people who try to hide, although this is in vain. In this particular case, you can enjoy an unprecedented audiovisual spectacle. Since it has different productions from different studios, you can notice a great disparity in each episode. So don't be put off by watching them all, as the audiovisual experience really helps you enjoy each story more, even if you don't believe me. Anyway, I'll leave this anime here for you to watch, I highly recommend it.

Cuando lo ví en su momento no supe qué explicación darle a estos episodios. Cada historia es única y diferente a la siguiente. Todas poseen un ritmo y una mezcla de elementos completamente distintos. Es por eso que me sigo cuestionando (aún ahora mientras escribo esto) si es correcto dejarlo en este puesto o siquiera en este TOP al menos. Porque en lo personal siento que no merece estar en ningún top, no merece ser comparado con ningún otro anime. No hace falta hacerlo ya que es simplemente único lo que uno se puede encontrar al ver cada uno de sus episodios. Pero aún así lo dejaré aquí ya que ciertas historias poseen esa sensación de ficción que genera algo de nostalgia.
Una de esas historias es la primera del primer episodio, por cierto, la cual nos muestra un mundo invadido por extraterrestres que comen humanos. Así que de entre los pocos sobrevivientes hay dos jóvenes que intentan ocultarse, aunque esto es en vano. En este particular se puede disfrutar de un espectáculo audiovisual sin precedentes. Al poseer diferentes producciones de distintos estudios se puede notar una gran disparidad en cada episodio. Así que no te incomodes al verlos todos, ya que la experiencia audiovisual ayuda mucho a disfrutar mejor de cada historia, aunque no me creas. En fin, te dejo este anime aquí para que lo veas, te lo recomiendo bastante.

Gnosia
We end this TOP with one of the big surprises of this fall season. An anime that I never expected to give a spot like this on a list, even at the beginning. But after giving it a chance, I was quite surprised by its story, characters, and audiovisual aspect. Based on the role-playing game in novel format of the same name created by Petit Depotto, this animated adaptation was produced by the Domerica studio. The anime tells the story of Yuri, a member of a space station with amnesia whose crew is being infected by a parasite called gnosia.
When I saw the first episode, the first thing I thought was: an anime of Among Us. Because yes, the plot begins with a sequence very similar to the famous game where the crew members gather to discuss which one of them is infected by gnosia and thus send them into cryogenic sleep after a joint vote. So far, everything sounds simple and predictable, albeit with a mix of deduction strategies and constant discussions with secrets intertwined among the station members. But then we also discover that in reality, not everything is as simple as it seems.

Finalizamos este TOP con una de las grandes sorpresas de esta temporada de otoño. Un anime que nunca esperaría darle un puesto como este en una lista siquiera al principio. Pero luego de darle una oportunidad, me sorprendió bastante tanto su historia como sus personajes y su aspecto audiovisual. Basada en el juego de rol en formato de novela homónima que lleva su mismo nombre creado por Petit Depotto, esta adaptación animada fue producida por el estudio Domerica. El anime nos cuenta la historia de Yuri, un miembro con amnesia de una estación espacial cuya tripulación está siendo infectada por un parásito llamado gnosia.
Al ver su primer episodio lo primero que pensé fue lo siguiente: un anime de Among Us. Porque sí, la trama inicia con una secuencia muy similar al famoso juego donde los miembros de la tripulación se reúnen para discutir quién de todos es el infectado por el gnosia y así mandarlo a dormir en un sueño criogénico luego de una votación conjunta. Hasta el momento todo suena simple y predecible, aunque con una mezcla de estrategias de deducción y discusiones constantes con secretos entreverados entre los miembros de la estación. Pero luego vamos descubriendo también que en realidad no todo es tan sencillo como parece.

What I liked at first glance was its animation, really. While I became more and more disappointed each week with every terrible episode that aired in the third season of One Punch Man, I also watched this anime that blew my mind and wondered how on earth an adaptation like this—of a game that surely no one knew existed—could be of such high quality. Another thing that caught my attention was its plot, which is similar to the famous game I mentioned above. Still, while it has its similarities, the best thing about this anime is that it has a mix of elements that make it unique in its style.
As if an Among Us anime weren't enough, there are also time loops, parallel worlds, and space creatures of all kinds in this vast universe. Returning to the animation, I really like the character design, as well as the detailed animation style and surprising fluidity. The mix of 3D environments and traditionally animated characters is excellent, as is the cool color palette. The sound effects and soundtrack are also very striking, especially in dramatic scenes where the emotion is palpable. In short, here's a great anime that you might find fascinating.
Personally, I give it a 10/10 rating in terms of the science fiction genre.

Lo que me gustó a primera instancia fue su animación, de verdad. Mientras cada semana me llegaba a decepcionar más y más cada pésimo episodio que se emitía de la tercera temporada de One Punch Man; también veía este anime que me dejaba loco y me preguntaba cómo rayos una adaptación como ésta -de un juego que seguramente nadie sabía de su existencia- tuviera tal nivel de calidad. Otra cosa que me llamó la atención fue su trama, la cual es similar al famoso juego que mencioné arriba. Aún así, si bien tiene sus parecidos, lo mejor de este anime es que posee una mezcla de elementos que la hacen única en su estilo.
Por si no fuera suficiente un anime de Among Us, también hay que contar los bucles temporales, mundos paralelos y criaturas espaciales de todo tipo en este vasto universo. Volviendo con su animación, me gusta mucho el diseño de los personajes, además de que posee un estilo de animación bien detallado y una fluidez que sorprende bastante. La mezcla de entornos hechos por 3D y personajes animados de forma tradicional es excelente, al igual que la paleta de colores fríos que tiene. Los efectos de sonido y la banda sonora también llaman mucho la atención, sobre todo en escenas dramáticas donde la emoción es inminente. En fin, aquí te dejo un gran anime que puede llegar a fascinarte.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 10/10 en lo que respecta al género de ciencia ficción.

It's an anime I would only watch once and be done with.
At first I was going to give it a 5/10, to be honest. But then I said, "Nah, it was entertaining at least, so I won't be so harsh," and I gave it a 6/10. But yes, I would never see him again. 😅

Me gustan los detalles de decir de qué manga se originó, su autor, qué estudios fílmicos se encargaron de la animación. Además que leerte nos hace ahorrar mucho tiempo porque evita que comencemos a ver un anime y después de tres capítulos digamos "No, wué va, esto no es lo mío" Acá uno va sabiendo qué terreno va a pisar según sus propias preferencias.
