Hello, anime fans. We've finally reached the end of this "little" annual special where I talk about the best anime in each genre that I've seen over the past year. In this case, we'll be talking about the comedy genre, a genre I tried to avoid talking about because it's so widely used in this industry that it's difficult to find an anime without any humor. Choosing these five series that I'm going to talk about below was not easy. Comedy blends so well with other genres such as fantasy, action, romance, the supernatural, and mystery that it's hard to decide which is best.
But since this is my TOP list, I decided not to complicate my life any more than I already do and talk about the ones I consider to be the best (or at least the ones I think are the best). Of course, this is my opinion, and what I'm about to say is just my opinion based on my tastes. Those of you who read my posts know how this works: each anime I mention will be rated from 1 to 10. We'll start with the lowest-rated anime and end with the highest-rated one. I've already reviewed most of these anime before, so you'll see their names linked. I hope you find your next favorite anime in this TOP list.

En este caso, hablaremos del género de la comedia, un género que intenté evitar hablar debido a que en esta industria se utiliza tanto que es difícil encontrar un anime sin ningún tipo de humor. Escoger estas cinco series que les voy a hablar a continuación no fue fácil. La comedia se mezcla tan bien con otros géneros como la fantasía, la acción, el romance, lo sobrenatural y el misterio que es difícil decidir cuál es mejor.
Pero como es mi TOP, decidí no complicarme más la vida de lo que ya lo hago y hablar de los que considero que son lo mejor (o al menos los que creo yo que lo son). Claro está, es mi criterio y lo que diré a continuación es solo mi opinión basada en mis gustos. Los que sí leen mis posts saben cómo se maneja esto: cada anime que les mencionaré será calificado del 1 al 10. Empezaremos con el anime de menor calificación y terminaremos con el de mayor calificación. La mayoría de estos animes ya les he hecho una reseña antes así que verán sus nombres enlazados. My Deer Friend Nokotan
Let's start with what is, for me, the worst comedy anime I've ever seen in my entire life. And it's ironic that I say this, since it's one of the most popular shows from last year. However, I think it's more of a personal thing, simply because I don't like absurd humor, or at least the kind of humor in this series. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Oshioshio, this animated adaptation was produced by the famous Wit Studio. The anime is about a high school student named Torako Koshi who pretends to be an innocent and well-mannered girl when in reality she is an ex-delinquent. One day she meets a girl with deer antlers on the road who will make her life miserable.
"Absurd" is the perfect word to describe this anime. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's bad or anything like that, just that this is a type of humor that I don't like, as I already told you. Those who are familiar with the genre will know that in the anime industry there are certain popular works with this style of inherent humor that lacks meaning or logic. It's like a mix of random things with extremely hilarious characters who just want to get attention every time they appear, turning a common scene into an odyssey of madness and chaos. But, amid all this senseless madness, there is a certain pattern in some works that makes them a gem for some fans. Personally, I don't understand how the hell this makes anyone laugh.
Besides, I'm not a fan of servants either, so I don't care how "educational" this anime may be about japanese culture and its relationship with this animal. I think what led me to watch it was its enormous popularity on the internet long before it began airing last year with a simple video clip, a dance that became a "meme" in this part of the world. But, overall, I think it's just more of the same from a subgenre of comedy that I'll never understand at all. And it's unfortunate that a great studio like Wit took the trouble to make this adaptation, when there are plenty of works out there that would surely be a million times more worthwhile than this. If you like absurd humor, then this is for you.
Personally, I give it a 5/10 rating in terms of the comedy genre.

Empecemos con el que es, para mí, el peor anime de comedia que he visto en toda mi vida. Y es irónico que diga esto, ya que es uno de los más populares del año pasado. Sin embargo, pienso que es un caso más personal por el simple hecho de que no me gusta el humor absurdo, o al menos el que tiene esta serie. Basada en la serie de manga homónima escrita e ilustrada por Oshioshio, esta adaptación animada fue producida por el famoso Wit Studio. El anime trata de una estudiante de secundaria llamada Torako Koshi que se hace pasar por una chica inocente y educada cuando en realidad es una ex-delincuente. Un día se encuentra con una chica con cuernos de ciervo en el camino que le hará la vida imposible.
‘Absurdo’ es la palabra perfecta para definir este anime. Y no me malinterpreten, no digo que esté mal ni nada por el estilo, solo que este es un tipo de humor que no me gusta, como ya les dije. Los que son conocedores del género sabrán que en la industria del anime hay ciertas obras populares por este estilo de humor inherente y carente de sentido o lógica. Es como una mezcla de cosas al azar con personajes extremadamente hilarantes que solo buscan llamar la atención en cada momento que aparecen mientras hacen de una escena común una odisea de locura y caos. Pero, entre tanta locura sin sentido hay cierto patrón en algunas obras que la convierten en una joya para algunos fanáticos. Yo en lo personal no entiendo cómo rayos esto le da risa a alguien.
Aparte, tampoco soy fan de los siervos así que me da igual todo lo “educativo” que puede llegar a ser este anime con respecto a la cultura japonesa y su relación con este animal. Creo que lo que me llevó a verla fue la enorme popularidad que tuvo en internet mucho antes de empezar su emisión el año pasado con un simple videoclip, un baile que se volvió un “Meme” en esta parte del mundo. Pero, de restó, creo que solo es más de lo mismo de un subgénero de la comedia que nunca voy a llegar a entender en lo absoluto. Y es lamentable que un gran estudio como lo es Wit se haya tomado la molestia de hacer esta adaptación, habiendo un montón de obras que de seguro valdrían la pena un millón de veces más que esto. Si te gusta el humor absurdo, entonces esto es lo tuyo.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 5/10 en lo que respecta al género de la comedia.

Let's continue with an anime that perfectly represents one of the most popular genre combinations currently in the industry: romance and comedy (RomCom). But beware, this is not just any RomCom, but one that also mixes some fantasy and action into its story. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Sawayoshi Azuma, The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil was produced by Children's Playground Entertainment. The anime tells the story of the demon Masatora Akutsu, who comes to Earth in search of new demon soldiers for a war between Heaven and Hell. However, an "innocent" angel named Lily Amane will make his life miserable.
I don't consider myself an expert on the subject, far from it, but I've lost count of the RomCom anime I've seen since I started watching japanese animated series about three years ago. Although I've already talked about several similar series, I don't think that's even a quarter of the dozens of titles I've seen so far. However, very few have managed to entertain me as much as this anime did at the time. And I'm not just saying that because of its funny premise and witty characters, but because of the way it combines the theme of angels and demons with a teenage love story. It's interesting that even the romantic comedy subgenre has a variant that mixes fantasy and some action, as can be seen in this work.
Another thing I like about this anime is its style of humor, as it doesn't overuse fanservice or double entendres. It even has funny scenes or moments that are hard to forget. The main characters also attract a lot of attention, especially because they differ from the typical couple in any generic RomCom. Its audiovisual aspect is another point in its favor, as both the character design and its quality and details are top-notch. The same goes for its visual effects and its few action and chase sequences. Its soundtrack does a good job of conveying what it's going for and isn't bad at all. If you're a fan of school romantic comedies and are looking for something different, this anime is for you.

Pero ojo, no es un RomCom cualquiera, sino uno que también mezcla algo de fantasía y acción en su historia. Basada en la serie de manga homónima escrita e ilustrada por Sawayoshi Azuma, The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil fue producida por el estudio Children’s Playground Entertainment. El anime nos cuenta sobre la vida del demonio Masatora Akutsu, quien va a la tierra en busca de nuevos soldados demonios para una guerra que hay entre el Cielo y el Infierno. Sin embargo, una “inocente” ángel llamada Lily Amane le hará la vida imposible.
No es por creerme un experto en la materia ni mucho menos, pero ya he perdido la cuenta de los animes RomCom que he visto desde que empecé con este hábito de ver series animadas japonesas en emisión hace como 3 años. Si bien he hablado ya de varias series similares, considero que no es ni la cuarta parte de las decenas de títulos que he visto hasta ahora. Sin embargo, muy pocos han conseguido entretenerme tanto como lo hizo este anime en su momento. Y no solo lo digo por su graciosa premisa y sus personajes ocurrentes, sino por la manera en la que combinan el tema de los ángeles y los demonios con una historia de amor adolescente. Es curioso que incluso el subgénero de la comedia romántica posea una variante que mezcla fantasía y algo de acción como se puede ver en esta obra.
Otra cosa que me gusta de este anime es su estilo de humor, ya que no es uno que abusa del fanservice ni de los chistes de doble sentido. Incluso posee escenas o momentos graciosos que son difíciles de olvidar. Los personajes principales llaman mucho la atención también, sobre todo porque se diferencian de la típica pareja de enamorados de todo RomCom genérico. Su apartado audiovisual es otro punto a su favor, ya que tanto el diseño de los personajes como su calidad y detalles son de lo mejor. Ocurre lo mismo con sus efectos visuales y sus pocas secuencias de acción y persecución. Su banda sonora cumple con transmitir lo que se busca y no está nada mal. Si eres fan de la comedia romántica escolar y buscas algo diferente, este anime es para tí.

Let's talk about another romantic comedy anime, although it's not just any romantic comedy, but the most eagerly awaited comeback of last year. This is one of those remakes that helped me learn more about the best of this industry in its golden age of the 90s. Based on the manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Rumiko Takanashi, this modern version of Ranma ½ was produced by the famous MAPPA studio. The anime tells the story of Saotome Ranma, a teenager who practices martial arts and is forced to marry the daughter of his father's best friend. However, there is a bigger problem: every time he bathes in cold water, Ranma turns into a girl.
As I mentioned at the time, this is the first time I've seen this anime. In other words, I hadn't seen anything before this new Netflix remake made by MAPPA. So my opinion of this anime may not be enough for those who are true fans of this work. Personally, for a romantic comedy with martial arts-style action and the like, it's not bad at all. Of course, its audiovisual aspect helps a lot, but beyond that, there aren't many good things to highlight. Starting with the type of humor it uses, which I wouldn't say is completely absurd considering what we discussed earlier with the deer girl anime. However, it has its irreverent and somewhat absurd humor with awkward moments and encounters that always end in fights.
That's why I think its humor isn't just for laughs, but always seeks two objectives: to sexualize characters or to pick fights. And while it does have fanservice, the anime helps a little with the censorship it already has. This is the type of humor the anime uses, not to mention that it's a mix of fights, absurd moments, and a boy turning into a woman every now and then. However, that didn't stop it from being the most popular in the East and West both in the 90s and now, for some apparent reason. In terms of audiovisuals, MAPPA manages to maintain some of the essence of the original work with a similar animation style and details in terms of character designs and battle scenes. Likewise, it does not prevent it from standing out in other aspects, especially in terms of visual and sound effects. If you are a fan of humor and action, this anime is definitely for you.

Este es uno de esos remakes que me ayudaron a conocer más de lo mejor de esta industria en su época dorada de los 90s. Basada en la serie de manga homónima escrita e ilustrada por Rumiko Takanashi, esta versión moderna de Ranma ½ fue producida por el famoso estudio MAPPA. El anime nos cuenta la historia de Saotome Ranma, un adolescente que practica artes marciales que está obligado a casarse con la hija del mejor amigo de su padre. Sin embargo, hay un problema mayor: cada vez que se baña con agua fría, Ranma se convierte en una chica.
Como ya comenté en su momento, esta es la primera vez que veo este anime. O sea, no me ví nada antes de este nuevo remake de Netflix hecho por MAPPA. En lo personal, para ser una comedia romántica con acción al puro estilo de artes marciales y demás, no está para nada mal. Claro, su apartado audiovisual ayuda bastante, pero más allá de eso no hay muchas cosas buenas por destacar. Empezando por el tipo de humor que se maneja, el cual no diría que es completamente absurdo teniendo en cuenta lo que hemos comentado antes con el anime de la chica ciervo. Sin embargo, tiene su humor irreverente y algo absurdo con momentos incómodos y encuentros que siempre terminan en peleas.
Es por eso que considero que su humor no es del todo para reírse nomás, sino que siempre busca dos objetivos: sexualizar personajes o buscar peleas. Y si bien tiene fanservice, el anime ayuda un poco con la censura que ya tiene. Este es el tipo de humor que maneja el anime; sin mencionar que es una ensalada de combates, momentos absurdos y un chico convirtiéndose en mujer a cada rato. Sin embargo, eso no evitó que sea lo más popular de oriente y occidente tanto en los 90s como ahora, por alguna razón aparente. En cuanto a lo audiovisual, MAPPA consigue mantener algo de la esencia de la obra original con un estilo de animación similar y detalles en cuanto a los diseños de los personajes y escenas de batallas. This is one of those anime series that are not at all what they seem at first, but that you end up liking if you give them a chance. Mayonaka Punch is an original japanese animated series produced by the studio P.A. Works. The anime tells the story of Masaki, a former member of a group of girls who make videos for NewTube. One night, she tries to record an urban exploration video in an abandoned hospital when she encounters what appears to be a vampire in search of blood. However, this vampire turns out to be worse than the protagonist imagined.
Yes, I know the premise gives off more of a suspense and horror vibe than anything else, but in reality, it's nothing like that. Its main humor stems from an encounter and subsequent somewhat strange relationship between a girl who makes videos and a vampire who wants to be her friend so she can drink her blood. From here on, everything becomes more bizarre than it seems, although it's not entirely absurd humor that is shown at all times. The friendships formed in this anime are fundamental, and the themes they deal with sometimes become more serious than one would expect from a comedy like this. In terms of audiovisuals, the studio in charge achieves its goal, as always. Its aesthetic is top-notch, with a mix of bright tones and a palette of mixed and strong colors. The character designs are not bad, and the details and visual effects are top-notch. The soundtrack is pleasant and very emotional as well. If you are looking for something different in the comedy genre, you can watch this anime.

Las amistades que se forman en este anime son fundamentales y los temas que tratan a veces llegan a ser más serios de lo que se espera de una obra de comedia como esta. We end this list with another romantic comedy anime, but not just any RomCom, but one of fantasy and romance with a style of humor that comes a little (just a little) close to the humor I really like: dark humor. A series of 12 short episodes that went unnoticed last year despite how well made it is. Based on the four-panel manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Cocoa Fujiwara, The Magical Girl and the Evil Lieutenant Used to Be Archenemies was produced by the famous studio Bones. The anime tells the story of Byakuya Mimori and Mira, both enemies by nature since she is a magical girl and he is the lieutenant of an evil army.
I forgot to mention that Lieutenant Mira begins to feel something for his arch-enemy, Byakuya, right after meeting her in person. This is where this little story begins. As I mentioned above, this anime has a somewhat stronger sense of humor than we have mentioned before. This is mainly because it has jokes and references related to abuse of power, slavery, extortion, obsessions, and a few double entendres. There are even a few characters who stand out for being quite hateful, rude, and ill-mannered as well. But anyway, the story itself revolves more around the relationship between the protagonists, who are on opposite sides and enemies by nature, which makes the whole issue of what they feel and do even more ironic.
Honestly, I'm not very happy with the decision to place this anime in this position in the top ten. But in reality, none of the previous anime mentioned have convinced me 100% that they deserve it. It's not because they're bad, but because I don't think the humor used in the anime industry in general has ever really convinced me. So I'm just basing my opinion on what I like and know best, which is the type of humor I grew up watching on television. That's why I think this anime should be ruled out, as it's not at all what it appears to be with its dark humor. To top it all off, there's the audiovisual aspect, which is wonderful coming from one of the best animation studios around today. So if you're also a fan of dark humor and romantic fantasy, then check out this anime.

Incluso hay uno que otro personaje que se destaca por ser bastante odioso, grosero y maleducado también. Pero bueno, la historia en sí gira más en la relación que tienen los protagonistas, siendo estos de bandos contrarios y enemigos por naturaleza, lo cual hace más irónico todo el tema de lo que sienten y hacen.
Sinceramente, no estoy muy conforme con esta decisión de colocar este anime en este puesto del top. Pero en realidad ninguno de los animes anteriores mencionados me han convencido al 100% de que se lo merecen. No es por nada malo, sino porque considero que el humor que se maneja en general en esta industria del anime nunca me terminó de convencer como tal. Así que solo me baso en lo que me gusta y conozco más que es el tipo de humor con el que he crecido viendo en la televisión. Es por eso que pienso que este anime es la opción a descartar ya que no es para nada lo que aparenta con el humor negro que tiene. Para más colmo está su apartado audiovisual, ya que es una maravilla viniendo de uno de los mejores estudios de animación de la actualidad. Así que si también eres fan del humor negro y la fantasía romántica, entonces mira este anime.
Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9.5/10 en lo que respecta al género de la comedia romántica y la fantasía.
