Once again, here we go with another anime that I am not used to talking about. Although I have already mentioned the reasons for this several times, it seems that this year I started to frequent this type of series with quiet stories and without so much drama, character development or plot twists. You know, those anime categorized as "Slice of Life" where we only see the daily life of common characters and how they face common situations at certain times or places that are common in their society. In this case, it's time to talk about a romance anime of this style, one that -unlike the ones I've brought you before- focuses on a much more mature and somewhat deeper and different story. It's not the typical story of two teenagers who fall in love at school and try to propose and be together throughout the episodes only to end up in nothing at the end; rather, it's about an already established relationship that faces situations and tests much more realistic than it seems to be. As you may have noticed from the beginning, I don't recommend this anime unless you really like this kind of genre enough to want to watch it on your own. But otherwise it's not a work that stands out much among its kind, even.

Una vez más, aquí vamos con otro anime que no es de mi agrado ni costumbre hablarles. Si bien ya les he mencionado repetidas veces las razones de esto, parece que este año empecé a frecuentar mucho este tipo de series con historias tranquilas y sin tanto drama, desarrollo de personajes ni giros de trama. Ya saben, esos animes catalogados como “Slice of Life” donde solo vemos la vida diaria de personajes comunes y cómo estos afrontan situaciones comunes en cierto momentos o lugares que son algo común en su sociedad. En este caso, toca hablar de un anime de romance de este estilo, uno que -a diferencia de los que les he traído anteriormente- se centra en una historia mucho más madura y un tanto más profunda y diferente. No es la típica historia de dos adolescentes que se enamoran en la escuela e intentan declararse y estar juntos a lo largo de los episodios para al final terminan en nada; sino que trata sobre una relación ya establecida que afronta situaciones y pruebas mucho más realistas de lo que parece ser. Como se habrán dado cuenta desde el principio, no recomiendo este anime a menos que te guste mucho este tipo de géneros como para querer verlo por tu propia cuenta. Pero de resto no es una obra que se destaque mucho entre su tipo, incluso.

As I don't plan to extend so much with this review, I'll go straight to my honest opinion about this anime. Both its plot and its story in general attract me quite a lot, since it plays a lot with the doubt and imagination of the viewer when thinking about the different circumstances or situations in which Masugu and Yui will be in and how they will face it both together and alone. I am also struck by the collective or social opinion of these people regarding couples in employment areas. I think that, as is the case all over the world, there are many ethical and professional details that go hand in hand with these cases, so it may be understandable that they would prefer to keep their relationship secret in their area of work or from the view of a certain public. But rather than a certain curiosity about such a couple, it is more a curiosity about the general popular culture in Japan, personally. Otherwise, there's not much else that catches my attention from the said story as it's mostly the life of the protagonists as seen by both cases both individually and as a couple. But it's nothing new or unique that hasn't been seen before, it's just common circumstances or moments in the daily lives of two employees who are secretly dating.

On the subject of the characters, not much needs to be said. Starting with Masugu Tateishi who is the typical young protagonist who works in a company and possesses nothing remarkable per se other than his secret relationship with Yui Mitsuya. Throughout the series we see how he tries to keep said relationship a secret as certain lapses of time go by where they don't see each other because of work and how they then take their time to be alone together and little else. You can see more how the story focuses more on how the protagonist and his partner deal with various circumstances, make certain decisions or react to certain changes. As I said at the beginning, it's nothing beyond something common and introspective, just seen in a certain way and with a bit of a humorous tone, perhaps. The same goes for Yui, who we see is a young girl who, aside from loving Masugu with all her heart, also has certain dreams and goals she wishes to fulfill in her life. This is another detail we see in the characters, as we are also shown the personal development and growth they have, plus we can also see how their relationship grows stronger as time goes by. It is to this point that the idea of keeping such a relationship a secret is even absurd.

Como pienso no extenderme tanto con esta reseña, iré directamente con mi opinión sincera acerca de este anime. Tanto su trama como su historia en general me atraen bastante, ya que se juega mucho con la duda y la imaginación del espectador al pensar en las diferentes circunstancias o situaciones en las que estarán Masugu con Yui y cómo lo afrontarán tanto juntos como a solas. También me llama la atención la opinión colectiva o social de esta gente con respecto a las parejas en las áreas de empleo. Pienso que, como sucede en todo el mundo, hay muchos detalles éticos y profesionales que van de la mano con estos casos, por lo cual puede que sea entendible que prefieran mantener en secreto su relación en su área de trabajo o a la vista de cierto público. Pero más que una cierta curiosidad por dicha pareja, es más bien una curiosidad por la cultura popular general que hay en Japón, en lo personal. De resto, no hay mucho más que me llame la atención de dicha historia ya que mayormente es la vida de los protagonistas vista por ambos casos tanto de forma individual como de pareja. Pero no es nada nuevo ni único que no se haya visto antes, solo son circunstancias o momentos comunes de la vida diaria de dos empleados que están saliendo en secreto.

En cuanto al tema de los personajes, no es mucho lo que se tenga que decir. Empezando por Masugu Tateishi quien es el típico protagonista joven que trabaja en una empresa y no posee nada destacable en sí más que su relación secreta con Yui Mitsuya. A lo largo de la serie vemos cómo intenta mantener en secreto dicha relación mientras pasan ciertos lapsos de tiempo en los que no se ven por el trabajo y cómo luego se toman su tiempo para estar juntos a solas y poco más. Se puede ver más cómo la historia se centra más en la forma en la que el protagonista y su pareja afrontan diversas circunstancias, toman ciertas decisiones o reaccionan ante ciertos cambios. Como dije al principio, no es nada más allá que algo común e introspectivo, solo que visto de cierta manera y con un tono un poco humorístico, tal vez. Lo mismo sucede con Yui, quien vemos que es una joven que, aparte de amar a Masugu con todo su corazón, también tiene ciertos sueños y metas que desea cumplir en su vida. Esto es otro detalle que vemos en los personajes, ya que también se nos muestra el desarrollo y crecimiento personal que tienen, además de que también podemos ver cómo su relación se va fortaleciendo con el pasar del tiempo. Es hasta este punto en el que pensar en la idea de mantener en secreto una relación de este estilo es incluso hasta absurdo.

Last but not least, let's talk about the technical and visual aspect of this anime. Although it doesn't have the best animation in the world, I think it doesn't need a lot of budget or work in this case. Of course, I admit that the animation is decent, with good details in the design of the characters, the places and the style that is handled. Despite not having much fluidity or depth, the animation manages to compensate for this with one or another visual effect, a good choice of light color palette and a decent soundtrack that manages to set the scene well to convey the emotions that this work possesses. With all this present I am not saying that it is the best anime of its style, far from it, I just emphasize that at least it has an audiovisual quality that can be enjoyed without so much problem (even now with many anime of romance and comedy with lousy animation and low budget). I repeat once again, it is not one of the best romance anime I have seen nowadays and I consider that there are many other better works in this genre, by far. But if anything I wrote in this entire post catches your attention, then you can watch it on your own.

Personally, I give it a 7.5/10 rating as far as the romance genre is concerned.

Por último, pero no menos importante, hablemos del apartado técnico y visual que tiene este anime. Si bien no posee la mejor animación del mundo, creo que no hace falta mucho presupuesto ni trabajo en este caso. Claro, admito que la animación sí es decente, con buenos detalles en el diseño de los personajes, los lugares y el estilo que se maneja. A pesar de no poseer mucha fluidez ni profundidad, la animación consigue compensar esto con uno que otro efecto visual, una buena elección de paleta de colores claros y una decente banda sonora que consigue ambientar bien los escenarios para transmitir las emociones que posee esta obra. Con todo esto presente no digo que sea el mejor anime de su estilo, ni mucho menos, solo destaco que al menos posee una calidad audiovisual que se puede llegar a disfrutar sin tanto problema (incluso ahora con muchos animes de romance y comedia con animaciones pésimas y poco presupuesto). Repito una vez más, no es de los mejores animes de romance que he visto en la actualidad y considero que hay muchas otras obras mejores en este género, desde lejos. Pero si te llama la atención algo de lo que escribí en toda esta publicación, entonces puedes verla por tu propia cuenta.

Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 7.5/10 en lo que respecta al género del romance.
