Talking to you about this film is a real thrill for me, not only because I'm a huge fan of the Batman character, but also because it's the Tim Burton film that took him to the top of the film and entertainment industry. His creativity, style, and artistry are forever imprinted on this dark and different version of the Dark Knight. Not only that, but this film had such an impact on the film industry and popular culture that even today you can find multiple references, recreations, and adaptations of this film and its iconic version.

The funny thing about all this is that, once again, I confess that I didn't have such a deep affinity for this film until I was older. Mind you, this is not only because of the number of times I saw it as a child, but rather because of how little I remember about it. I remember its sequels more, especially the first one, which was also directed by the great Tim Burton. And it's very difficult to forget it for obvious reasons, but we won't talk about that now, but later when the time comes. Now, as for this first installment of the first Batman film series by Warner Bros., I did get to know it when I was a teenager.

Now that I've had the great opportunity to take a good look at this film, I realize how great Batman is for many reasons, which I'll be talking about from now on. To begin with, the plot hooks you right from the start, with several starting points that help introduce the main characters.

On the one hand, we see the dark and cold city of Gotham and how dangerous its streets are. We see a man dressed in black in a bat suit watching over and fighting petty thieves. On the other hand, we see how the city's high-ranking officials are fighting organized crime. On one side, we have a commissioner who is desperate to capture the leader of this organization, with the help of the police chief. However, on the other side, we have Carl Grisson, who is more concerned with eliminating one of his henchmen, Jack Napier, because he is secretly dating his wife.

The first half hour of this film is a perfect introduction to this story full of mobsters, corrupt cops, disturbed millionaires, and laughing lunatics with terrible taste in art. The first thing to note, of course, is the mix of crime, black humor, action, and drama in this story. Unlike other versions of Batman that exist today, the one we see here stands out for not following any rules or showing mercy in ending the lives of his enemies. I mention this now because, although it may not be noticeable at first, we later see an interesting development in our protagonist that leads him to be cold to the end.

And yes, many fans of this iconic DC Comics character love this Batman played by Michael Keaton because of this. Although, of course, both Tim Burton and the writers and screenwriters of this film helped a lot to give us this rule-breaking, dark, and dangerous version of Batman in the late 1980s. Before seeing this film, I didn't think it was a big deal because of how old it is. I thought this version of the Dark Knight wasn't as impressive as many describe it. But after seeing this film, there is no doubt that it is very different from what we have been shown in recent decades.

Antes de ver esta película no creía que fuera la gran cosa, debido a lo antigua que es. Pensé que está versión del caballero oscuro no era tan impresionante como muchos lo describen. The interesting thing about this Joker is that he cares a lot about his image and always wants to be the center of attention. Although he is not a manipulator or a strategist, his level of madness and cruelty is taken to the limit in this film, showing us a complete theatrical spectacle of nonstop chaos and violence.

It also has scenes that are fascinating because of how shocking they are, showing us a mix of excellent performances with sequences and shots that are completely crazy. The direction, art, and acting come together in a special way in this film that makes it very different from any other superhero story.

Continuing with its audiovisual aspect as one of the most notable points of this film, we must mention Batman's artistic direction. From its photography style with fixed shots, excellent focus and transitions, to its dark color palette and the excellent mix of light and shadow used to create mystery and tension. Both the view of the buildings and the dark, trash-filled streets give this place a macabre touch. This helps a lot to give us a glimpse of what the people who live in this place are like. The use of visual effects is also impressive, especially when it comes to the practical effects used in almost all of the action scenes in this film. While the sound effects are great, the real winner is definitely the soundtrack, thanks to Danny Elfman's spectacular work. Anyway, I'll leave this Batman movie here for anyone who's interested in seeing it.

Personally, I give it a 9/10 in terms of the superhero genre.

El uso de los efectos visuales tampoco se quedan atrás, sobre todo al momento de usar efectos prácticos en casi todas las escenas de acción de esta película. Si bien los efectos de sonido suenan muy bien, lo que de verdad se lleva el premio es la banda sonora de manera definitiva gracias al espectacular trabajo de Danny Elfman. En fin, les dejo esta película de Batman para todo el que esté interesado en verla.

Personalmente, le doy una calificación de 9/10 en lo que respecta al género de superhéroes.
