Stingless trigona bees, producers of nutritious honey
Through the afternoon trip I took the time to stop at several places for survey purposes. In between work visits I also had the chance to visit my friend's place that I haven't visited for a long time.
Several discussions became the topic of conversation, not to mention I admire him for his success in trading, he is an old friend who is great in the field of trading natural spices, he has even found an international route with complete permission from the state.
While walking around the garden area of his house until the conversation was over. But I saw something that made me curious and wanted to know more. The box frog designed with wood I saw insects flying and entering the cavity of the box.
My friend explained about this. These are boxes containing cultivated trigino bees, I saw there were about 15 boxes. He has tried to cultivate these bees about a year ago and has produced honey.
This is a type of stingless bee, its bite is not as dangerous as the larger bee. It is just a box made of wood that looks like a box that makes a little cavity. Initially, this bee's nest and small offspring were taken from the wild and then the nest was put into the box so that other bees automatically inhabited this artificial nest.
If anyone is also curious about this type of bee, I have prepared an article link for you to read more.
Trigona bees, also known as stingless bees or meliponines, are a group of bees belonging to the tribe Meliponini. They are notable for their lack of a functional sting, although they may still defend their nests aggressively by biting. Trigona bees are found primarily in tropical and subtropical regions around the world, particularly in the Americas, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Australia.full article here
Initially only samples were put into the box, after some time the box was filled with honeycomb. It looks like small balls filled with honey liquid.
Some boxes were already filled with honey ready to be harvested, my friend asked me to suck it and was willing to give me this efficacious honey as a gift.
Just by using a straw, he taught me how to take honey from the beehive. Sucking it up and putting it in a bottle.
Yes...of course I tasted it. The taste is a little different from regular honey, it's a little sour, like fruit candy, sour and sweet.
While listening to my friend's explanation, I continued to suck slowly. Around these artificial nests, he also planted various types of flower plants, where the bees would suck the essence from the flowers which is useful for producing quality and efficacious honey.
In terms of color, this type of honey is no different from honey from stinging bees, and the same goes for its properties, they have almost the same properties that are beneficial for health.
Here I had the opportunity to learn about this honey, about its cultivation, had the opportunity to taste it directly and also got a gift to take home.
Nature always presents good things, both naturally and by being a little creative, providing various sources of medicines, one of which is honey from this tiny bee that provides many benefits for us. See you again.
