"El inicio de mi camino en HIVE" / "The beginning of my journey on HIVE"

Mi nombre es Fernando Garrido y soy nuevo en este mundo digital. Lo conozco por mi hermana @lagoticaderocio, quien es asídua a estas redes con sus constantes publicaciones, y poco a poco he querido saber más acerca de HIVE y todo lo que lo rodea.

> I'm Fernando Garrido, and this digital world is all new to me. My sister, @lagoticaderocio, is really into social media and posts all the time, and that's how I found out about it. Gradually, I've become more curious about HIVE and everything it entails.

Soy diseñador, vivo en La Habana, soy formado en Cuba y trabajo de ‘Travel Designer’ en una agencia de viajes desde hace un año y medio. En mi día a día sigue influyendo el diseño, pero no tanto como antes, por mi empleo actual, aunque si he tenido que realizar varios trabajos de diseño industrial que compartiré por aquí; creo que HIVE me dará la oportunidad de acercarme de nuevo a ese mundo como me gustaría, y esto es lo que me ha impulsado a redactar este, mi primer post:

> I'm a designer from Havana, educated in Cuba. I've been working as a Travel Designer at a travel agency for the past year and a half. Design continues to influence my daily life, though not as much as it once did due to my current role. Still, I've completed various industrial design projects that I'll be sharing here. I'm hopeful that HIVE will provide me with the chance to get back into that world in the way I desire, and this is what inspired me to write my very first post:

Desde niño siempre jugué a hacer casas en miniatura, construcciones con legos, desarmé muchos juguetes(algunos por accidente); y la imaginación siempre me ha acompañado, me es muy facil trasladarme a otros mundos solo con pensarlo, tal vez me viene de mi familia,¿quién sabe?

> Ever since I was a kid, I always played at making miniature houses, building with Legos, and taking apart lots of toys (some by accident!). My imagination has always been with me; it's super easy for me to transport myself to other worlds just by thinking about it. Maybe it runs in my family, who knows?

Tuve la oportunidad de estudiar en “La Lenin” a partir del año 2010, etapa que recuerdo con mucho cariño por haber contribuido a que yo sea hoy algo más independiente y suelto socialmente, porque hasta esa época de mi vida siempre fui introvertido y de pocas palabras. También fue una etapa donde hice muchas amistades nuevas y viví esa especie de competencia académica en el último año donde tuvimos que decidir a qué nos íbamos a dedicar, en esos años con la ayuda de mis padres decidí que iba a estudiar Diseño.

> I had the opportunity to study at "La Lenin" starting in 2010. I remember that period with great fondness because it helped me become more independent and socially outgoing. Up until then, I had always been introverted and quiet. It was also a time when I made many new friends and experienced that kind of academic competition in the final year when we had to decide what we were going to pursue. In those years, with my parents' help, I decided to study Design.

En 2019 me gradué de diseñador industrial del Instituto Superior de Diseño, donde disfruté y viví mucho, fueron años de sacrificio y de amistades que han quedado atrás y dispersas por el planeta, pero que han ayudado a que hoy yo sea la persona que soy.

> I graduated as an industrial designer from the Higher Institute of Design in 2019, a period I thoroughly enjoyed and experienced deeply. Those years were marked by sacrifice and friendships that, though now dispersed around the planet, were instrumental in shaping me into the person I am today.

Una vez culminaron mis estudios trabajé cerca de tres años en la Oficina Nacional de Información Turística, como uno de sus diseñadores, esa fue una gran oportunidad de acercarme al diseño gráfico(carteles, trípticos, mapas, guías, volantes, billboards) que supe aprovechar para formarme como lo que me atrevo a llamar “diseñador integral”, porque hago un poco de todo en temas de diseño, aunque mi predilección se inclina hacia el interiorismo y por momentos hacia la arquitectura.

> Once I finished my studies, I worked for about three years at the National Tourism Information Office as one of their designers. This was a great opportunity to get closer to graphic design (posters, brochures, maps, guides, flyers, billboards), which I made sure to take advantage of to become what I dare to call a "comprehensive designer." That's because I do a bit of everything in design, though my preference leans towards interior design and, at times, architecture.

Durante esos años en INFOTUR tuve acceso a decenas de tutoriales y cursos de diseño en general que me ayudaron a complementar mi formación universitaria. Aprendí un montón e hice muchos trabajos de diseño al margen, en horario fuera de la oficina, lo cual hizo crecer lo que hoy tengo como portfolio de trabajos realizados.

> Throughout my time at INFOTUR, I gained access to numerous tutorials and general design courses that significantly augmented my university training. I acquired a vast amount of knowledge and undertook many design projects independently, outside of regular office hours. This substantially expanded what now constitutes my portfolio of completed works.

Un buen día un amigo de mi padre, a quien considero ya hoy como un amigo propio, me recomendó para un empleo en una agencia de viajes, y después de una entrevista y casi un mes de evaluar mis aptitudes, me contrataron, y a día de hoy me encuentro trabajando en ese empleo; que aunque no es muy enfocado al diseño, se puede relacionar si busco bien, además me ha brindado la oportunidad de conocer lugares de mi país a los que no había ido antes, y me he dado cuenta de que me encanta viajar de vez en cuando. Además el año pasado tuve la oportunidad de viajar a Europa por temas de trabajo y disfruté el viaje de todas maneras.

> One day, a friend of my father's—who I now consider a friend of my own—recommended me for a job at a travel agency. After an interview and nearly a month of evaluating my skills, I was hired, and I'm still working there today. Even though it's not very design-focused, I can find connections if I look hard enough. Plus, it's given me the chance to visit places in my country I'd never been to before, and I've realized I love to travel now and then. Last year, I also had the opportunity to travel to Europe for work and thoroughly enjoyed the trip.

A veces, sin pago de por medio, me gusta hacer cosas solo por el disfrute de hacerlas en la computadora. Me mantiene al día en el uso de los softwares de diseño que utilizo, y si me animo publico los resultados en redes, y a partir de hoy los postearé en esta blockchain.
Me llena de entusiasmo saber que este es solo el comienzo y que ahora voy a poder publicar parte de mi vida aquí.

>Sometimes, without payment, I like to do things just for the enjoyment of doing them on the computer. It keeps me updated on the design software I use, and if I feel like it, I'll post the results on social media. Starting today, I'll also be posting them on this blockchain.
It fills me with enthusiasm to know that this is just the beginning and that now I'm going to be able to publish a part of my life here.

No puedo despedirme sin antes dedicarle unas palabras a mi familia: si no fuera por ellos no sería quien soy hoy. Sé que todavía necesito mejorar en muchos aspectos, pero junto a ellos sé que podré.(En esta foto no estamos todos pero los que faltan los llevo conmigo).

>I can't say goodbye without first dedicating a few words to my family: if it weren't for them, I wouldn't be who I am today. I know I still need to improve in many aspects, but with them, I know I can. (This photo doesn't include everyone, but those who are missing, I carry with me.)
