Hello, friends of the world. Hello, friends of Hive. Today is Tuesday and everyone knows that Tuesdays are the day for music lovers, to listen to all genres of music, the best performances, the best bands, soloists, the best albums.
Today I continue with the series of Venezuelan singers who emerged in the 80's and became a reference for later generations of musicians. Today, rather than talking about a singer, I am going to talk about a duo that, perhaps, was the most successful duo that Venezuela has ever had: Fernando and Juan Carlos.
In the 80's, when Sin Banderas did not yet exist, and the music industry was betting on musical groups, to see two talented young singers and composers jump into the musical limelight became a phenomenon.
Their songs, between pop and ballad, that speak of love and heartbreak, were chanted by the young and not so young. Many of these songs are still listened to and make us travel back to that time when our only problem was not to step on the lines of the sidewalks. Let's enjoy these pieces:
I want to start with the piece that made them famous: “Aún paso por tu casa”. A piece from 1985 that served as the theme song for a soap opera. I remember that there was no party that did not play it and people sang it loudly, with feeling.
As I listen to this song, I can't help but remember that in the 80's there was a romantic music program on the radio where people would call in to please other people and dedicate songs to them. On many occasions I was pleased, but I also dedicated several tunes.
And the last song is Será, another romantic piece, in the best pop ballad style, a musical genre that came to be eternal. I learned this piece thanks to the fact that every afternoon I would sit in front of the radio and transcribe, like a dictation, the songs I liked the most.
Although this duo had a lot of national fame and acceptance, they split up very soon. Then they each made a solo musical career and guess what: they were not successful. It happens. Hopefully they will soon report that there is a "reunion" as other groups do.
