Important gifts don't come wrapped in paper

Giving and receiving gifts is one of the customs that I keep in time. Since I was a child I have loved to receive gifts, but I also love to give them. I feel very excited to awaken joy in others, to show my affection through a meaningful detail. For me, giving gifts is a beautiful experience that fills me a lot.

Over time I have learned two great things about gift giving. The first, that you don't need a special date to give a gift to someone and the second, that to give a gift you don't need to make a hole in your economy. At any time you can give a gift to someone and anything can become a great gift.

Speaking of the latter, for some time now I have been in the habit of giving things that I know the other person will appreciate. It is not about buying a magnet for the fridge door, or a set of glasses or a blouse, because suddenly, if you do not know the needs of the other person, he or she may not need blouses or glasses and a magnet is to accumulate something unnecessary. No. For example, sometimes I make snacks, cake or a drink that the other person likes and give it as a gift. This type of gift is very practical and if you tell her that you made it especially for her, she will surely appreciate it.

Other things I like to give as gifts are books. Of course, just because I like books doesn't mean that other people have to like them. Therefore, in order for me to give a book as a gift, one of the two premises must be met: that the person wants that book or that I have read it and want the other person to read it. It makes no sense to give a book for the sake of giving it away, it is like giving a dog or a plant to someone who you know is not going to care for or value your gift.

Likewise, for years I have been in the habit of scheduling my friends' birthdays and I try to be the first to congratulate them, send them a voice note at midnight or a message where I remind them of my friendship, my admiration, my affection and my joy for being part of their lives. Such personal gifts make magic in others. You can't imagine how many of my friends have cried and told me that they always wait for my message and that my words are usually the best gift they have received.

If I know you and love you, it will not be unusual for me to send you a poem, a picture of a flower, a photograph of a sunset or even a video with a joke and say: "I saw this and I remembered you. I'll give it to you as a gift. Yes, because I am one of those girls who give the moon as if the moon was hers, I give flowers in photographs because I know that way they do not wither, I give chocolates with news of affection and I even give smiles without being asked for them. And the fact is that to give as a gift you don't have to go to stores or break the piggy bank, because the real gift is not what you give, but the love with which you give it...

How nice, giving cake 🍰 never fails.
I also agree that giving a good book is the best. Sharing good books can change someone's personality or awaken dormant sensibilities.
I agree with you. A good book, for those who appreciate it, is an excellent gift. Best regards.

They do say "the best things in life are free". I love giving gifts, mind you I do it to myself as well. Just come back after a night away and day spent on an island that I have wanted to visit ever since I was a boy. Finally did it yesterday. A gift hug thinking of you Nancy

It's such a joy to be able to gift meaningful gifts or cook for someone! I think I enjoy giving these things more than receiving them. I'd also like to have a piece of that cake! Lol. The photographs of the ocean are frame worthy. That last one, especially, is stunning. It's almost as though I can feel the sunshine. I wish you a wonderful weekend Nancy!
Today I am coming back from a brief vacation away from the hustle and internet. I needed it. I hope you have had an excellent few days, my friend. I send you a hug.
