Kiss #159: If you see me near the sea, leave me there because that's where I want to be.

If you see me near the sea, leave me there because that's where I want to be.

I grew up listening to the song: “En el mar, la vida es más sabrosa” (“In the sea, life is tastier”), and there is no doubt that it is.

I am a person who is fortunate to have been born and to have lived in a Venezuelan city that has the Caribbean Sea as its horizon. This coincidence of life, although it is a luxury, is also the only explanation why I am the way I am: vibrant, passionate, cheerful, enthusiastic, sometimes warm, sometimes cold, like the waves that bathe my feet.

My dream, since I was a child, has always been to have a house near the sea (now I live in a house that is 20 minutes away from the nearest beach) where I could open the windows or the door and the blue would flood my eyes. Where I could fall asleep to the sound of the waves when they kiss the sand or when they make the rocks crunch with their strong caresses.

My idea of tranquility is to own a white house, small, cozy, simple, without major luxuries, away from the chaos of the city, where everything I could eat was within reach: oysters, chipichipi, squid. But also tomatoes, onions, chili peppers, potatoes, fruits.

A house where the doors are always open for friends, where the day goes by without clocks, where everything is simple, without scripts. To walk sighing along the shore while the sun goes down and more than taking out the cell phone to make a call, take it out to take a picture of the immensity of the landscape that makes your soul tremble.

A house with large windows through which the light enters, with books in every corner, in every room, with hammocks everywhere and scented incense that eternally reminds you of spring.

Once upon a time, I had saved a certain amount of money and thought about buying that little white house of my dreams. But tell God your plans and he will laugh at them, the saying goes. Yes, he will. That's how it is. At that time, my parents retired and wanted to buy a country house, so I preferred to give them my saved money so they could have the house of their dreams.

But now, as my retirement is approaching, I think again that my life would be perfectly simple and light near that familiar and beloved blue. So I've already thought that the money I get from retirement will go to buy that little white house. I would like to turn that house into a place where people can go to disconnect, where they can learn to live with little and go to recharge their batteries. For me the sea is a good place to heal, to escape, to finish, to leave behind, but also an excellent place to start a new life. Where nothing weighs, where nothing is too much, where you only feel and live the present. No doubt: if you see me in a little house near the sea, leave me there, I am fulfilling my dream...

I can already imagine that little White House near the sea and I’m sure it’ll be so peaceful living there with all that disconnection away from the chaos. Okay now you’re giving me ideas 🤭

I think all houses should face the sea or at least, after a certain age, all people deserve to live near the sea, to be lulled by the sound of the waves! Greetings

Oh dear, it feels like you wrote this specifically for my soul. I have the same dream of living by the sea! I was going to say how lucky you are, and you probably are, though I'm aware it's more than just luck, making your dreams come true. ♥️ thank you so much for writing this, I really enjoyed it!

I believe that living near the sea is not just a place, it is a way of living life. Thank you for your comment, my friend. Hugs

I grew up by the sea, but like you, now live twenty minutes from there now. I can't afford it and don't think I ever will. Still, I can spend lots of time down there and I love my house so it's okay.

Don't you feel that having grown up near the sea, sometimes the sea calls you? It is an inexplicable energy. I remember spending some time in the capital, and when I returned to my marine city, I felt as if I had spent a thousand years. I hope I get my little house. Greetings, my friend

Oh I totally am called by the sea, every minute. I grew up 1 km from a famous surf beach called Bells Beach where I could hear big swells crash through the window at night. And I grew up on beaches with my family, particularly my Dad, who taught me to surf. I miss him so much and I think he comes to me most when I'm in the ocean. I have a mermaid heart.
