Monomad: Brefeldia maxima

IMG_20250621_081253.jpg

I found this mushroom in my backyard. It grows after a decaying coconut tree trunk has been burned. It usually develops after rain, appearing in clusters on the charred logs.

The texture of this mushroom is very fine, like flour when crushed. It won't last long because it's soft and breaks down easily like flour. If you try to hold or lift it, it's the same as crushing it.

Brefeldia maxima
This powdery mushroom is yellow with a hint of orange. It's truly beautiful upon closer inspection. This is because its shape and color perfectly blend together. Unfortunately, it will fade in the rain and be destroyed by the hot sun.
