🙌🏽🌻Sublime Sunday🙌🏽💖 by @c0ff33a - Duden Park in Antalya

Duden Park is one of the must visit places in Antalya, the park is very ordinary but what's charming to see here is the Duden river flowing through this park and then finally merging in to the Mediterranean Sea. Today I am not sharing that part of the park, I am going to share the other parts of the park which has historical significance. There are some Tombs and Minarets also in the park which are worth giving a glance at and knowing their history.

The park has an entrance ticket and fair enough, the waterfall is so beautiful here that it's worth the price.

The Duden river flowing through the park, this is not the best side of it.

This is the area where there are tombs, and all these rocks you see are actually tombs which are centuries old. I find these tombs very interesting, they show case the changing cultures with time, the burial customs have changed with times and they are all different in different cultures. It also talks about the status of the person who has died. The fancier the tomb you know the person must have been rich, and the simpler ones will talk about the simplicity of the person.

In my culture the way to dispose off the body is very different, there is no burial or burning. We have a system of Dokhma, where the body is kept in a big man made well under the open sky and the birds feed off on the flesh. This system has been in practice since centuries from the time our ancestors have been in Iran. In those days there were very big birds and in no time the body would get disposed off. But now in the urban cities scenes have changed and there are barely any birds. So other measures are taken.

Anyways that's a whole different topic and coming back to the Duden park, we got to see some tombs which are the simple ones and most of them now are in ruins covered with grass as you can see in the picture.

This little mosque is one of the first islamic structures in Antalya which was built in the 13th century, at that time it was the city's landmark. Do you think our modern day structures will last so many centuries. This particular mosque is around 800 years old.

This was a bright sunny day and after many days I could get out without my jacket, it was such a relief, else almost all through out the trip I had to keep the jacket on me because of the weather.
