Staying in a Cave Hotel in Cappadocia

Cappadocia is famous for it's cave hotels. There are both natural ones and man made ones. I wanted to stay in one of the natural cave hotels. They are a bit expensive then the regular constructed ones. I had asked my agent to look in something mid range and not very fancy but it should be a natural cave hotel. Agent had given me some options, it was difficult for me to decide from pictures but then going with the reviews and whatever pictures were available online I decided go ahead with the Sunak Cave hotel.

Cappadocia has different areas, so our hotel was in Urgup. It was a 10 minute walk from the city center which was the most convenient thing, because we did not have a private vehicle and our hotel did not have good dining facilities, so we had to do up and down the city center for meals and also for shopping, which was very comfortable with just 10 mins walk. As a place I enjoyed Cappadocia more then Istanbul. It had a very warm and friendly vibe. It did not feel that commercial like Istanbul and I found it cheaper here then Istanbul. We bought our maximum souvenirs from this place as we found some good variety and they were reasonable.

Coming back to our stay at the Cave hotel. The reception did not look very fancy or appealing, and I was wondering if I had made the right decision. It was a small little room with no space to sit and cramped up. Payment was already done so I had no choice. All of this was going on in my head, and I was nervous also because hubby and son were on my head giving me a stare. I was trying to ignore them but I was worried. After the check-in was done, we were directed to our room, while going through the place the feeling was good.

Looking at the room my first impression was pleasant, and then hubby and son also gave a nod, so it was a relief. Actually, I loved the room, it was cozy and to live in a cave room I was feeling excited. The room was spacious, everything we would need was there.

The bathroom was nice and big. Our hotel room in Istanbul was very small, the hotel was fancy but the rooms were cramped up and I was put off with that. This one made up for the bad mood of the Istanbul hotel. With 3 of us in one room, we need space and I am ok with simple places but space is something that is my preference over luxury.

I thought this phone was only for show, but then I checked and it is working. Such a fancy thing in today's time. I really loved all of this old vibe feeling.

Look at the ceiling part, they have the wooden beam support.

Evil eye is famous here, and almost every place has trees like this with evil eye hangings.

I did enjoy my stay here. The staff was very friendly, assisted us with all our queries and made us feel very comfortable. Overall a very good experience staying in this hotel.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

The interior looks spacious enough and well designed and decorated. I guess it'll be hard to imagine such a cozy environment exist inside when looking at the outside view. I would've also picked a natural cave over a man-made one, closer to the source as possible :)

You are right, from the outside it looked very shabby, but the rooms were good.

You must, if you get a chance. Some times we let go off these experiences for little extra money that we have to pay, but I feel it is worth it. Money always comes back but such experiences may not

Nice and spacious hotel with a good location. Great pick! Love the phone. So robust and craftful compared to all the fancy tech we have today. If you take a closer look at the different shapes of the stones, the architecture, and the overall design, it makes you question history as we've been told ... again ... and again ... and again.

It was a simple one compared to the other fancy ones in our neighborhood but I liked. It had everything that would make our stay comfortable and that's what we needed. True, these kind of places do make us question our history. Some times I feel they were much more evolved and we have fallen down rather then building up from what it was
