Oversharing on Social Media
When social media platforms like Facebook and Orkut started it became like a fancy for everyone to put up their pictures and life stories on these platforms. While facebook succeeded, I am not sure if Orkut still exists, or it's completely gone. It was fascinating, even I used it a lot. If someone visits my facebook profile they will see that in the beginning times I have too many of my pictures, almost of every occasion. But lately I have cut down a lot in the last couple of years. It's not that I have completely disconnected but it is very minimal, probably 3 to 4 stories in a year. Majorly I am using my account now for my Airbnb promotion, both Insta and Facebook.
I feel that in the last few years putting up too much of our personal information on social media platforms have become risky. There are so many people who put up almost every single thing about their life. There is no right or wrong, it's just about how much one wants to be public about their life. As I grow old I want to be less and less visible publicly. I do click loads of pictures wherever I go and for every occasion, but I do not put up anything. Sometimes my friends tell me that if I am not putting them up on social media, why am I clicking so many pictures. Well, they are for my personal watch. Whenever I look at my past pictures I feel good about all those places that I have been to and spent all those precious moments with my family and friends.
When I visit some very fancy place then I like to put up a story, but otherwise on day to day basis I do not bother, and this is what amazes me the most, how some people live on it. They will put up pictures of what they are eating, wearing and everything. Isn't that putting out too much of your personal information out in public? When something is new, it's exciting but as time passes and we get so used to it then it kind of becomes boring, so similarly now I am bored with these platforms.
Some time back I read this article, that putting up live stories is the most harmful thing. When some one puts up live check-ins on their holidays then they are letting other people know that probably their home is empty and if someone is stalking you then they can take advantage of that. I personally feel that it is better to be safe with yourself then getting into trouble with this show business.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
Live check-ins is a dangerous thing to do as some have unfortunately ended up dead because of it. They get tracked through their location sharing. I've always wondered why this feature is available on social media platforms, the downside far outweighs any upside coming from it. I think it's a natural progression to be so involved in something new only to be later be less involved when the newness has disappeared. It's been a long while since I last logged into Facebook.
True, the live check-in feature is dangerous, it would be good if it is removed completely.

Less is more! I stopped posting daily stories too and it feels way less stressful. I like how you balance enjoying social media and protecting privacy. 🌷
Privacy is getting more and more precious by the day
That's right 😭
People need to be careful out there, the world is becoming more wicked. There are a lot of stories in my country of how people were killed brutally because of their daily updates online.
I prefer not to post my life on social media
Cyber crimes are the most these days, it's easy way to do it
