My first time ever
As it's said it's never too late to do anything in life. For years I have been having this on my mind to do a blood donation. It sounds kind of weird that I have crossed 50 and yet never done a blood donation ever. For many years the problem was my own health, as such there was no real problem, I have always been healthy, but my hemoglobin always used to be very low. It used to be between 7 and 8 till I was 40. At that time I had to shift to Oman and for that full medical check-up had to be done. They rejected my visa in the first round because I did not clear my medicals, the main reason being hemoglobin was low. After that I took some iron injections and somehow the hemoglobin came up. It had to be all done in a short span so I had to do excessive treatments.
Shortly after that it again went down, because I had some problems with my mensural cycle. I had to take this problem seriously, and hence had to undergo a small surgery to address the issue, after which my hemoglobin levels improved and after that's it's been between 11 and 12, which is a very healthy count. Somehow or the other still I could not do blood donation, it just was not happening. Last week one of my friend who is a Doctor contacted me if I was interested in doing it. Their hospital was doing a blood donation drive, so anyone who would like to could do it.
I was an instant yes for it, there was a registration formality which I completed and it was all set. On Thursday evening I went to the hospital, I was feeling little nervous because it was my first time, hubby did pep me up. When I reached, there were some formalities to complete, which I did, at one stage it was indecisive if I could do it or not, they asked me if ever I had malaria. Now honestly I do not remember, at least not till my memory holds it, but in childhood I am not sure. They were thinking, then they told me that they will go ahead and they will also do a Malaria antibody test, if it comes positive then the blood donation will go waste. I agreed to it and did the blood donation. Till now I have not heard from them so I am hoping that the antibody test result is negative.
After the donation, I was made to sit there for 15 minutes. As such I was perfectly fine, except for a very mild dizziness, which I assume is very normal, that too it was for 2 to 3 hours and then I was back to normal. I slept off early that night, next day morning it was all as usual. The experience was amazing, it felt so good in my heart doing it, something meaningful. I am going to do it again and again, it is also healthy to do it, donating blood at least once a year can help improve blood flow and reduce arterial blockages. So why not.
In the process

And I am done

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

That's very thoughtful of you ma'am, there was a time a few years ago a hospital request for blood donation I couldn't join them because I was pregnant but it's something I am looking forward to doing, when another opportunity presents itself and I am cleared by the doctor. Well done ma 👍
Thank you my dear, I am glad I got this opportunity finally
That fifteen minute sit after and the mild dizziness for a couple hours really landed with me, the calm after feels like a small victory. Seeing your hemo;globin stay at 11 to 12 and still choosing to donate now, after all those setbacks, really shows grit. Those hospital forms and the malaria antibody talk can spook anyone, but you did good and was brave, and it ended up meaningful :) Your choosing to do it again, even once a year, feels like a steady gift to others and to yourself.
Yes, it does feel good, no matter however the body is feeling, the mind is feeling fantastic
totally get that. when the mind is on a high, the body catches up soon :) go easy today, sip water, maybe some iron rich bites, you earned that he;art glow. defintely a win, did you treat yourself to a little celebratory snack?
That's so nice of you giving to the needy, yes you have to wait for sometimes for your body to normalize before you could get up that was why you felt dizzy and at that point someone will fall down if try to get up, ones I tried to give a friend's child blood it didn't match and despite they later bought from the hospital but that child still died, oh very painful. You have done well
During my husband's ailment, I have received a lot so it is my responsibility to give it back.
