My Biohacks for Healthy Hair

The Hair Dye Industry is one of the most profitable businesses in today's time. The research says that almost 50% of women color their hair and now the numbers are also increasing for the men. Probably one industry which will never run out of business. But hair dyes have their own disadvantages. They are full of chemicals which are not only harmful for the health but for the environment also. Specially Ammonia, when you wash the hair, the chemicals get mixed in the water in the drains and this is not good for the environment. Then there is Sulfate, Parabens, Hydrogen Peroxide and other chemicals which when regularly used will induce more hair fall and also a itchy scalp. It's just not the outer effect, these chemicals also enter the body through the pores and harm the physical health.

Me now close to my 50s, I do have some grey hair, I would like to take care of it, I find my confidence in my hair, and I like to manage it at the best. I know eventually greying is a natural process and we cannot stop it, but I would still like to take care of my hair in a manner where I can slow down the greying process. I absolutely do not want to use the chemical colors. For my friends who use them I also see that once you start using it the greying process becomes faster. I want the opposite of it, I want to slow it down.

Thankfully I have very good genes passed on from my mother, when it comes to hair. Till the age of 48 without any boasting I will say that I had no greys. My friends always envied that. In the last 1 year I have started seeing a couple of them. They cannot be even seen from the outside. I want to start taking care of them and not wait till everything gets white. Here is one of my home remedies, which has been very effective for me. It's natural, organic, safe and above all very effective. but at the same time, it's a bit of a work and effort.

These are my absolutely color free natural hair with all my home care treatments at the age of 49. When I look at it I feel it's all worth the effort.

The recipe is as below, take all of these ingredients and grind it to a fine powder and store it in a Jar.

  • Black sesame seeds - It's high level of Omega 3 and Omega 6 helps in keeping the hair moisturized. Also helps as a coloring agent.
  • Gooseberry powder ( this can also be made at home by drying the gooseberry in the sun and then making a fine powder of it) - Its fatty acids help to strengthen the hair follicles and also gives luster to the hair.
  • Good quality organic coffee powder - brings color to the hair and also the acidic nature of coffee helps balance the pH levels.
  • Fenugreek seeds - rich in iron and protein
  • Curry leaves powder - (this one can also be made at home, by drying the curry leaves and grinding it to powder), they have proteins which are good for hair, and also acts as coloring agent.
  • Henna Powder - This is optional, I never use it, but if someone wants quick results then henna powder works faster.

Make a very fine powder of all of this and then store it in a glass jar. Whenever you want to use, take a 2 spoons of powder and mix it with either Aloe vera juice, or 1 Egg and apply it or even curd can be used to mix or simple water also works. My best combination is mixing it with Aloe. Since I have good amount of Aloe growing in my garden, it helps me. I remove the Aloe one time and then freeze it. When I want to use, I take a few pieces and then make a juice of it to mix with the powder and apply.

Once a week application works very well. For a lot of greys, you will have to start with using once in 3 days in the initial stages and it will take a month or so to see the good results. As I mentioned this is a time-consuming process but the results are amazing and it is worth the effort. Plus, it is 100% safe in all ways for the hair. Considering so much toxicity with the hair dyes, I would rather go in for safer methods. And a regular use of it will slow down the greying process as well. All of these ingredients are filled with vitamins that are good for hair and a long-term use will give good results to the hair growth and hair texture as well. It's a healthy way of managing your hair.

The last time I went for haircut, which was 2 months back, my hairdresser was amazed. He thought that I had colored my hair, he asked me which color I used since he liked the color. I told him this is not any hair color, but all my natural therapies effect from the last 1 year. He could not believe it.

I hope you all find this hair tips useful.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

It's time consuming but trust me it's worth it, once a week self-care is always good to be included in the schedule

Your hair is really beautiful and shinny.

I try as much as possible to avoid hair dyes because the first time I tried it on, I had a massive hair loss.

I'm glad you shared your hair remedy✨

That's true, hair dyes do more damage then good. Temporary they may look nice but as the effect goes then hair looks very bad

I do use henna sometimes, but that's it. I never use any other hair dye.
I love this recipe and I'm going to bookmark it. Gooseberries are difficult for me to source though.
Can I ask why you don't use henna? Xxxx

dear, you've so nice hair! You're lucky to have only some grey hair at your age, I saw the first ones at 34, and I was shocked...I had strong stress during the previous 2 years,a nd maybe that was the reason, or it's just my genes...don't know..but I know some girls who had first grey hair at 25 and even 20!
