Indiaunited contest - My Honest Take on AI: Tool vs. Threat

My response to the @Indiaunited community Contest - Theme: My Honest Take on AI: Tool vs. Threat

๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ๐ŸŒธ

I have not been much of a technology fan, I prefer to keep it simple and sometimes also continue with my old traditional ways. Just for e.g., when I am travelling to other countries, there are times when I do not have internet connection and I do not bother much about it, I carry the traditional paper map and navigate my way. I have been used to doing that for years in my travel and I find it convenient to use.

Saying that, it's not like I am against the developing technology, some of it is really very helpful. It's just about how it's put to use. And these new emerging technologies like AI will always have threats and benefits also. For e.g. I have a Meta AI assistance on my whatsapp and if I need any information, I ask and receive the answers. Lately I have been using it to get some food recipes and trust me I get some amazing responses. Not only that, if there is any confusion, I can clarify also, and get many alternate options. I have been getting some amazing healthy recipes through this tool. Any other information I need, it is so easily available. I take ideas for my business promotion from the Meta AI.

But I have one rule, always to keep the use in control and not share personal details. Though these days everything is open and nothing remains very personal. But one can try as much as possible. I only have this one AI tool and that too I do not know how it got on my WhatsApp, I guess it is an auto feature, but it's helpful for me. Yes AI can become a threat in a big way, the way faces are cloned and videos are made these days, which look so real, it can be very dangerous. It can be misused in so many ways. Feeding in too much of your personal data in the tool is also exposing you to many frauds, thefts and such other threats.

Eventually the AI technology will become the boss, there is no running away from it, just like the internet, which everyone felt was a big threat when it started being used, but now it's just so common and everyone uses it, such will be the case for AI also. And then something new will come up which will pose a bigger threat. The AI robots can become a big threat to many jobs, so that's one thing to look out for.

Just yesterday, I was out at a mall and my car was parked in the basement, which is a paid service, at the exit, there is a machine, where the car number gets detected and based on the hours the charge will show up, which then needs to be paid by card. On the look of it, was very hi-tech. But my car number did not get detected and then there was a voice from the booth, basically a customer service representative, asking what was the issue. That's where I feel, that no matter how much ever advancements we can make in technology, but after all they are machines and human intervention is for sure needed to operate them smoothly. So while some jobs may be lost, some new will also get created to control these tools.

It's not like if the AI is fully developed then after that there is nothing, there will be something new and more advanced coming up, which also will be introduced by humans, and it will keep going on. With the developing technologies our human roles will keep changing and enhancing. For e.g. there was a stone age time where people were occupied in hunting and fighting for survival, but we are not doing that anymore, then there was a time when there were wars happening at large and majority of the population was engaged in wars, we are not doing that either now, though wars are still there but not of those extent. 100 years back goods were manually carried from one place to another even if it was a long distance, but now we have vehicles. With time the human roles have enhanced and what our ancestors did we are not doing it any more. Surely they must have felt a threat in their times with those developments and same it is with us. 1000 years down the line, future cities will be fully based on technologies, who knows we may have colonies in space and all of this will be only possible with advanced technologies. Life will not be what it is like now. Living will be very different and it will be normal for that time, with new threats developing of their times.

This is my take on the AI tools.

AI really is a double edged sword. Super useful when used wisely, but it's just so scary how fast it's evolving. Balance and awareness is something we can't play with. I respect and appreciate your grounded perspective

All of these new technologies will be in the same way, it will depend on us how we put them to use

A great comprehensive take. It's probably an auto feature from Meta to include the Meta AI chatbot on WhatsApp. It can be very useful to learn things on the go, less friction also, you ask and get a bunch of answers, etc. I generally view AI as a developing trend that will eventually become a norm in life, what we can mostly do is understand both sides of the spectrum, in order to make informed decisions on how we interact with it.

We all do have our own perspectives and I totally agree with your thought before any AI technology people where living so peaceful and there was not that much of huste, everything was good but as the society is evolving we really need to fit within it because living seperate with your own perspective doesn't solve the purpose.!

Change is the only constant thing in life and if we do not adapt to it we will fall out of place
