@IndiaUnited contest - My advice for the new users on Hive

This is my response to the @Indiaunited Community Contest for the week:

Theme: What are the advices you will give to the new user on hive?

🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸🌸

Being 8 years on hive has not been an easy journey, and be it 8 years or 1 year, this journey is not going to be easy at all, if you are serious about it. If this is just one part time activity for you which is more of a fun, then there is no hassle in whichever way you do it. But if you are serious about it, then there are some rules to follow.

These are some of my advices that I will like to share with the new users on hive:

It's not going to be easy in the beginning to get visibility - For the first few months, you will struggle to get noticed by people. You may know one or two people who may have introduced you, or some may not even have that. You are all by yourself in this vast ocean, and there are so many publishers that you may not get noticed at all.
To start getting noticed, join communities and participate regularly in the community events. Join their Discord channel and participate in conversations there. Visit blogs of people who share your similar interest and comment on their post regularly. Keep showing up as much as you can.

It's very easy to fall out of Hive - There is no boss here or no timeline commitments, no SLAs to meet, no one to supervise. You are the one person who is everything, so it's very easy that you can not be regular, or that if you see no good rewards then you may lose interest.

Keep long term vision if you are serious about it - If you start expecting rewards from day one then it's a fantasy world that you are living in. Have patience, keep working. Slowly gradually build your pace on your rewards and stabilize yourself. Some people may be lucky to start getting good support right from the beginning, do not compare yourself to them, rather do not compare yourself to anyone on the platform. Avoid getting involved in controversies. Do your job with sincerity and move ahead.

Be prepared for set-backs - Not all days are going to be same; there can be hitches in your journey. Do not get demotivated. Keep the big picture on and move on, even if there are rewards coming in.

Loads of Discipline, consistency and honesty - I believe that this is the most important one. There will be days when you will be lazy and once you get in to that mode then trust me on and off you will disappear, and then one fine day completely disappear. First of all, if writing does not excite you, then yes, you may not be able to continue for long. But if it does then discipline is very important. There are many old users here on Hive, who have been successful over the years and if you go through their profiles, you will see their discipline and consistency in writing. Also be genuine with your content. Do not steal content and make it as your own, sooner or later it will show up and bring down your credibility.

Bring joy to your work - Write on what you relate yourself the most with, and it will never bore you. If you enjoy photography, write on that, if you enjoy travelling, then write on your travel experiences. Writing on your hobbies and passion will always keep the spark on. Not only that, you will also write well on those areas. If you are doing it as a compulsion then for sure your journey will end soon.

Last but not the least - Set a goal for yourself - What do you want to achieve out of your Hive Journey? Because if you have a goal, you will have motivation to work. Without a goal, there is no motivation and it's very likely that your journey will not go on for a long time.

This is my own experience of my 8 years journey on Hive and I hope this will be helpful for the new users.

Thank you for visiting my blog. πŸ‘ΌπŸ»πŸ‘ΌπŸ»πŸ’–πŸ’–πŸŒΉπŸŒΊπŸŒΈ

This is a good refresher to remind myself of the basics, I think the last one on setting a goal can be very underrated. For me, it brings more structure to the work, in terms of how to get to the goal, as a byproduct you also start thinking different, recognizing possibilities that you may have missed previously.
