Importance of grandparents in a family
I really love the joint family living culture. This culture is present in most of the Asian countries and not only in India but missing in the western world, where it is more about nuclear families. Unfortunately my extended family is small and hence always missed this part. I only had my mother-in-law with who we lived for a long time. I believe that having elderly people at home is like a blessing. With their experiences of life they can teach us so much. Not only that the house and children also gets well taken care of. For a child having a grandparent at home is a way of protection for the child.
For my son when he was young, I had a full time nanny for him, because I was working and my job hours were long. My mother-in-law was also there staying with us, so while the nanny did all the work, I always was relieved that mom was there to keep an eye and that my son was not entirely left to nanny. She would make sure that his meals were given on time, all his other schedules were followed. Not only that, she loved him a lot so it was a nice companionship for both of them while me and hubby were at work.
There were some disadvantages also, like she would pamper him a lot by fulfilling all his demands and the result was that my son always thought that he was very special in the family and deserved everything best. Even I pampered him, but in comparison to my her's I was a little behind. At the same time she also disciplined him as she herself was a very disciplined lady. I wish my son also had the presence of his grandfather.
In my growing up, I always missed having grandparents. My maternal granny was there, but she was not very fond of me, and I always failed to understand why. Probably there were many grandchildren and I was the last ones so she had already showered all her affection to my other cousins who were born before me. But still some times in vacation, going to her place was fun. Me, sister and all cousins would go to her home for vacation and spend a few days and it was so much fun. She was very lenient and we could do whatever we want. Going to her place means absolutely no touching study books, it was all just play and play.
Having grandparents at home is like having an umbrella under the sun, they have solutions for almost everything. And I believe that at that stage of life, they must not be excluded, they are very much part of the family so they should be around all the time, after all they are our parents and we too owe them love and care.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
Grandparents are loving, hahaha your grandma is just a carefree person I think that's her own way not that she showered her affection to other cousins, well if she does, you would also noticed the person she love most. I think it was just her way, but there are disciplined ones from the way they handle you, you most love them 😊
True, in whichever way they teach us a lot about life

Having grandparents around are such a blessing, my kids are always excited when I take them to go visit my parents because of how they are being pampered there 😄
That's the place where they are spoiled pampered and also disciplined at the same time
Just having a conversation with them, especially when they are narrating their life experiences does impact a lot of lessons to take in and later on learn to understand. I always prefer staying at my grandma's home over ours, but this only happens when there are holidays. Other days are pretty normal, living in a nuclear family, for the most part.
Even spending little time with them becomes a life long memory to be cherished. I believe it's their love and compassion which is so unconditional that we get wrapped up in it for life
