Hive is addicting

avatar

Some times when I wake up in the morning, I feel, today I do not want to write. And as the day progresses this feeling of not missing to write starts building up. By afternoon I am back to my laptop and I write my post. I find Hive very addicting at times. It's been almost 6 years; in the beginning I was not regular. On an off I skipped. But in the last one and a half year I have been very regularly writing every single day and spending my time on Hive.

In July I will complete 6 years on Hive and it is going to be a big achievement for me because I never thought I would come this far. When I started, I never realized that I had this potential to come this far. Sometimes it feels like a dream to me. I created more than 1600 Posts in this period and it all feels so unreal to me. I have mentioned in past couple of times how my Hive journey began in distress when I had no job at hand and I was feeling so clueless about my life and it all brought so meaning to me.

Today Hive has become an important part of my life, it's just like I need to eat my food daily and the same way I need to be on Hive daily. There is not a single day when I am not around here, and it goes for a lot of people here. It's become such an integral part of our lives. Coming across so many new people, making some strong connections, building bonds, it's all for real.

But then I always keep thinking how long will I continue. Honestly for me, there is no end date to it. I can say as long as Hive continues, I am going to be around. At the same time from next year onwards I may have reduced activity on Hive as I have to start focusing on my other projects which will soon begin and they will need my good amount of time. Hive is going to be permanent for me. For this particular year I do have a target to write every single day one posts and I am going to give my best. New things will come in life but Hive will still have its place.

I was telling my son that with Hive coming into my life one thing is that I do not have to worry about being financially independent. I can write at any age and be independent for my finances. A lot of people worry about their finances after their retirement, because when running income stops it does make a difference. This was a conversation I was having with a couple friend of mine some time back. They retired in their jobs here in Muscat and moved back to Mumbai and now with the living expenses going up, they are always worried about their finances as to what they have saved, will it be sufficient for them for the rest of their lives. They were giving me advice that my husband and I should continue in our jobs till our retirement age. I absolutely have no intention of doing that. I told him the same thing, that I am not much bothered, because I have resources which will keep me financially independent.

There is instability in the price which kind of brings volatility in the regular income, but again I feel that is is also about wise planning. Being here for 6 years I have learned how to manage my withdrawals and savings to keep a steady month on month income for a later stage. I do not even intend to remove all my earnings and I wish to keep growing them for the later part of my life. Writing is something I enjoy doing and hence there is not even going to be a question of me getting bored of this job. If that was the case, I would have long been gone.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

congrats on 6 years! I'm definitely finding the bug too, almost a year here of constant activity and I find myself drawn back day after day! There's a real buzz about Hive, it's going to be interesting to see if it can capitalise in the coming years onboarding new users.

Hive has come a long way and it's proven it's stability over the last couple of years and also it's potential of growth so I am sure the times ahead for Hive is also bright.

Hive has slowly creeped into being an integral part of my life. I started realising when I'll go to sleep and be dreaming about my Hive activities. It was just crazy back then. I'm loving it here so far and planning on being around for a long time. It just doesn't feel much work to me and I definitely enjoy doing it.

Haha, that's what it does to the mind. You keep thinking what to write next. Everywhere I go I am thinking about Hive and I click pictures. It's been quite a fun journey.

Well written. I can relate to a lot of that. Even now that I had to abandon my Hive fulltimer status, I still cannot imagine my life without Hive. It´s like our virtual home, our virtual family :)

I have never been a full timer Hiver as too many other things on the plate. But I like to dedicate sufficient time of my day to it. I hope I can continue doing that.

You have been doing exceptionally well here then :) I really admire all those people with 80+ rep who don´t even do Hive full time and only post in their free time after they come back home from work. Very impressive. And well deserved recognition.

People who came on hive with ulterior motives would always find it hard to stick around but you? 6 years is a very long time. You're really patient and consistent.

Hive is a really wonderful place to be an I hope that I can remain here for as long as possible.

That's true, if one thinks that it is a quick money making scheme or try to do fraudulent things then that journey will soon end. Not only that it will also ruin your reputation.
