Corporate Matters

It has been an extremely busy week at work front. Oman has been celebrating it's Sustainability week from 11th to 15th May and I have been working on this from my Company. Lot of our clients have been sending us surveys around Sustainability with ambitious goals on CO2 reductions. For so many years, Oman had never looked in to this direction because it of the easy availability of energy resources, but since the last couple of years things are getting serious. More and more companies are participating in creating an eco-friendly environment. This is needed also.

The Company that I do consulting for is a small size company, it is a manufacturing plant which makes Tin cans. Since the last few years our aim is also to reduce environmental risks created from our manufacturing processes. We constantly monitor our energy, water usage, air quality, saving on energy consumption by introducing cost saving equipment's, minimizing our waste, discarding our waste in the most efficient manner and lot of other things to look at. We also participate in the Eco Vadis survey which is considered one of the top level survey around sustainability measures. This year we had a fabulous score of 80% and that makes me very proud of all the efforts that have been put in for continuous improvement in our sustainability practices.

What my take away and opinion from all of this is that this is the need of the hour and every little effort made is going to make a difference. We think that small changes will not matter, but every single company and every single house-hold if they get into these practices then it can bring a huge change in to our environment, creating a healthy and a sustainable one which will help our future generations to thrive.

When I started working on these practices in my company, we realized that there was so much of unmindful wastage we were doing, also not being resourceful with our waste. In this land energy is cheap and that's why many people use it carelessly with no accountability. These projects are close to my heart and I would want to see the change wherever it's possible from my side to take actions. In the last 3 years we have been able to bring a good amount of change in our company with creating a more eco-friendly environment and reducing our carbon footprint.

There are simple things that can be done in individual homes also to create a eco-friendly environment, by doing some very simple things like switching off lights, fans, a/cs when not in use, reducing consumption of things like tissue papers, garbage bags, no food wastage, mindful about water consumption. These things will not alter life much but if done by every household, it will create a big impact on our natural resources.

What actions we take today will determine the quality of life of our future generations.

Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸

Monitoring energy and water consumption is smart habit because it allows you to see what is actually being wasted and do something about it, rather than guessing and hoping for the best, if more people remembered to turn off the lights or not let the water run for no reason it would make a big difference because it's not all up to big companies, we all have to do our part, if companies talked more about what really works for them others would try it and everything would move forward faster
