Birthdays are always special and it is one day which is only meant for you. Through the year there are other important celebrations, but this one day is just about you. I like to celebrate this day with my loved ones, especially with my Mom. She stays in a different city, I travel to her and spend a few days around this part of the year. She's very old now and most of the time at home, these are the little things that I can do to make her feel happy. Also in this city, a lot of my extended family members live, so it gives me a chance to meet all my cousins and also spend my most important day with everyone together.

I also like the rituals that mom does on my birthdays, I feel pampered by everyone. In the morning I went to meet some of my relatives. 2 of my aunts are now very old and they do not step out of home at all. I feel bad for them, because till few years back they were so active and mobile but with age and deteriorating health now they have become home bound. They feel good when someone comes to meet them. When I look at this type of old people I feel scared, and think what is my old age going to be like. But then I also realize that I am taking good care of myself so possibly it is not going to be this bad. But you never know.

After spending the morning meeting all my old relatives, then back home I took some rest as evening I had planned a family dinner. All my cousins were to come, and I was so excited about it. All of us get to meet only once a year and we all look forward to.

They had arranged for a cake, which I did the cake cutting at the restaurant itself.

Before we left the home for the restaurant for dinner, my sister and mom did the birthday rituals for me. Being the younger one is always nice, because no matter however old you get, you will still be the younger one in family and will be pampered.

After completing the rituals we headed to the restaurant for the dinner party where all my other cousins and aunt were to join us. We had an amazing time together.

The one because of who I exist

Always very grateful to have all of these people in my life. It's a big blessing. The celebrations went very well. The one person I missed was my hubby. He had to travel back to Muscat to resume work so he could not stay back. But before he left he did celebrate it for me. Still when all of us were together and he was not around that did make me feel a little lonely.
