The children of the jungle
Meet the Pygmies of Congo's 🇨🇩Forest, one of Africa's great tribes
Also known as “the children of the jungle,” the Pygmy tribes in DR Congo 🇨🇩 are now trying to escape extinction and are one of Africa's last disappearing hunter-gatherers. Pygmies have a very close relationship with the rainforest environment — which is worshiped as a deity. They live in symbiosis with nature, gathering fruits and insects, hunting; and protecting the environment they rely upon.
The Mbuti and Efe pygmies have lived in the Ituri forest for thousands of years as forest hunters and gatherers. When not hunting, the pygmies gather honey, insects, seeds, fungi, and plants.
On this safari tour, you will visit the pygmy villages located in the Jungles of DR Congo where you will experience traditional dances, their way of dressing, their arts and crafts such as the wooden sculptures, and how they hunt and gather food among others.
