Film Review: Turn Me On || Technology can go so far to the point of leaving us empty as human beings. [ES/EN]

Hola amigos de la comunidad de Movies & Tv, espero que se encuentren muy bien. Hace poco leí la reseña de mi amiga @erigm sobre la película Turn Me On, realmente parecía un film aburrido pero me llamaba la atención la historia y que estuviera de protagonista Nick Robinson conocido por sus anteriores papeles en Love, Simon, Everything Everything, A Teacher, Maid entre otros. El es uno de mis actores favoritos que siento que no ha conseguido películas donde realmente desarrolle todo su potencial, en la serie Maid que fue muy exitosa hizo un gran papel cómo un joven con problemas de ira y de alcoholismo, su personaje fue perfecto y quedó muy bien en la historia. Por esa razón quise ver Turn Me On para llegar a conocer cómo sería su personaje en una historia totalmente diferente de las que siempre hace y aquí les estaré dejando mi reseña.

Hello friends of the Movies & Tv community, I hope you are doing great. I recently read my friend @erigm's review of the movie Turn Me On, it really seemed like a boring film but I was struck by the story and that it was starring Nick Robinson known for his previous roles in Love, Simon, Everything Everything, A Teacher, Maid among others. He is one of my favorite actors that I feel he hasn't gotten movies where he really developed his full potential, in the series Maid which was very successful he played a great role as a young man with anger and alcoholism problems, his character was perfect and was very well in the story. For that reason I wanted to see Turn Me On to get to know how his character would be in a totally different story from the ones he always does and here I will be leaving you my review.

La película se desarrolla en un entorno poco usual, dentro de un mundo distopico dónde los seres humanos son básicamente controlados por un grupo de personas que tienen una organización llamada Our Friends o Nuestros Amigos. Está organización va captando personas que deseen conocer cómo sería la vida dentro de este lugar, a cambio de perder todos sus recuerdos y comenzar una nueva vida más "ideal". Entre las personas está una joven llamada Joy (Bel Powley) quien vive dentro de este lugar donde todo parece un mundo perfecto y dónde siempre los seres humanos se sienten bien, tienen el bienestar soñado y que tanto ofrece está organización.

The film takes place in an unusual setting, in a dystopian world where human beings are basically controlled by a group of people who have an organization called Our Friends. This organization is recruiting people who want to know what life would be like in this place, in exchange for losing all their memories and starting a new, more "ideal" life. Among the people is a young woman named Joy (Bel Powley) who lives inside this place where everything seems to be a perfect world and where human beings always feel good, have the dreamed welfare and that this organization offers so much.

Pero Joy no está completamente sola, la organización también se encarga de escoger una pareja para cada persona y que puedan convivir de una manera normal dentro de las posibilidades que existen en un mundo dónde todo es controlado por la tecnología y la medicina. Por esta razón Joy tiene a su pareja que se llama William (Nick Robinson) quien es de su misma edad y que aparentan compartir los mismos pensamientos y la misma química aunque realmente nunca existe nada romántico o de una relación normal como tal.

But Joy is not completely alone, the organization is also in charge of choosing a partner for each person so that they can live together in a normal way within the possibilities that exist in a world where everything is controlled by technology and medicine. For this reason Joy has a partner named William (Nick Robinson) who is the same age as her and they seem to share the same thoughts and the same chemistry although there is never really anything romantic or a normal relationship as such.

Y es allí donde entra la famosa pastilla de la felicidad, ellos dicen que es una vitamina que deben tomar diariamente para poder sentirse plenos y llevar una vida normal, sin embargo, en una visita con al médico, Joy es diagnósticada con tumores en su espalda por lo que la doctora que la ve le dice que debe al menos dejar de tomar la famosa pastilla al menos por un día para poder aplicarle un tratamiento y que este no le cause ninguna alteración a su cuerpo por tomar la vitamina. Para Joy es raro dejar de tomarla, pero decide hacerlo y todo empieza a cambiar... Realmente comienza a sentir como un ser humano real y no como un robot.

And that is where the famous happiness pill comes in, they say it is a vitamin that they should take daily to feel full and lead a normal life, however, on a visit to the doctor, Joy is diagnosed with tumors in her back so the doctor who sees her tells her that she should at least stop taking the famous pill at least for a day to apply a treatment and that this does not cause any alteration to her body by taking the vitamin. It is strange for Joy to stop taking it, but she decides to do it and everything begins to change... She really starts to feel like a real human being and not a robot.

Esta historia aborda temas como la tecnología y esa idea de querer mejorar tanto la vida de los seres humanos hasta el punto de hacer cosas drásticas como inducir con medicamentos para ejercer una especie de control y que estos piensen que su vida mejoro producto de la pastilla. También se puede notar la diferencia que va sintiendo Joy al no tomar la pastilla, empieza a sentir como un ser humano real, siente miedo, decepción, angustia, alegría, rabia. Todo lo que los seres humanos sentimos y que es normal en cada etapa de nuestra vida.

This story addresses issues such as technology and the idea of wanting to improve the lives of human beings to the point of doing drastic things like inducing drugs to exercise a kind of control and that they think that their lives have improved as a result of the pill. You can also notice the difference that Joy feels when not taking the pill, she begins to feel like a real human being, she feels fear, disappointment, anguish, joy, anger. Everything that human beings feel and that is normal at every stage of our lives.

Fue muy divertido poder ver cómo las personas que forman parte de esta organización de Nuestros Amigos van cambiando producto de que dejan la vitamina para empezar a sentir la vida como realmente es. Se descubren entre ellos que las cosas que están viviendo en este lugar no son nada normales a pesar de que ellos decidieron estar allí, se dan cuenta de que la vida real está llena de emociones y que no solo son seres que trabajan, hacen ejercicio, hablan de tecnología y luego se van a dormir para repetir todo una y otra vez.

It was a lot of fun to see how the people who are part of this Our Friends organization are changing as they leave the vitamin to begin to feel life as it really is. They discover among themselves that the things they are living in this place are not normal at all even though they decided to be there, they realize that real life is full of emotions and that they are not just beings who work, exercise, talk about technology and then go to sleep to repeat everything over and over again.

No es la mejor película del mundo, tiene momentos en los que se siente muy aburrida la historia y también no conecte demasiado con la protagonista, sin embargo me gustó la forma en la que desarrollaron las escenas de los personajes mientras descubrían como era el mundo sin la famosa vitamina y cómo era volver a sentirse vivos, aprendiendo a reconocer sus sentimientos, su sexualidad y sus deseos a futuro. Me gustó porque me pareció una trama diferente y por la actuación de Nick Robinson, que realmente donde el aparece voy a estar yo allí para ver la película o la serie 🤭. Espero puedan verla y me dejen sus opiniones en los comentarios. 💙

It's not the best movie in the world, it has moments where the story feels very boring and also I didn't connect too much with the main character, however I liked the way they developed the scenes of the characters as they discovered how the world was without the famous vitamin and how it was to feel alive again, learning to recognize their feelings, their sexuality and their desires for the future. I liked it because I found it a different plot and because of Nick Robinson's performance, that really where he appears I will be there to watch the movie or the series 🤭.
