Film Review: La Noche Sin Mi 🎬 [ESP/ENG]

Hola amigos de la comunidad de Movies & TV, espero que se encuentren muy bien. Hace poco salió una película que vi y que me dejó pensando en todas esas cosas que pasamos las mujeres muchas veces en silencio, mientras las emociones nos llevan a tener comportamientos mal vistos y a perder un poco la cordura. En una sociedad que espera que seas madre, esposa, amiga, profesional, muchas veces se deja de lado el verdadero significado de ser mujer y todo lo que esto conlleva, la película se llama La Noche Sin Mi y es un retrato de una mujer que puede ser cualquiera que conozcamos, luchando por sobrevivir a situaciones que van desencadenando que se quiebre como ser humano.

La trama de La Noche Sin Mi nos va mostrando la vida de una mujer llamada Eva, quien enfrenta una situación un poco extraña para ser el comienzo de una película, donde deja ver que está embarazada. Esto para ella le produce sensación de ansiedad y de una lucha interna para ocultar esta verdad a su familia que la esperan como siempre en casa. Sus hijos, una pequeña y otro adolescente se muestran como cualquier tipo de relacion entre hermanos. Su esposo es atento y cariñoso aunque ella se muestra un poco fuera de su zona mientras está tratando de ser como normalmente es sin que su familia note nada extraño.

Una obra Argentina dirigida por Laura Chiabrando y María Laura Berch, nos muestra una serie de momentos que pueden verse como normales dentro de la cotidianidad de una familia, una mujer que está siempre para ellos y que tiene su vida perfectamente hecha, pero que ahora por este acontecimiento, se encuentra en una desdicha muy grande, tal vez no por el acontecimiento como tal si no por la manera en la que pudo haber llegado a ese punto. Me llevo a pensar que quizás ella fue víctima de una violación o un acto no consensuado por su propio marido. Al principio la relación se ve normal, solo ella está como más distante y con los nervios alterados, pero luego hay una escena que marca completamente lo que se creía que era una relación sana.

La parte escénica es importante porque muestra de manera casi claustrofóbica la rutina directamente de Eva y como todo a su alrededor continua mientras ella se hace pedazos y nadie lo nota al menos no hasta el final. Siento que la actriz Natalia Oreiro hizo un papel estupendo como Eva, dio forma y vida a una mujer en una circunstancia poco favorable, no esperada y presa del miedo y de la angustia. No sólo se puede sentir la tristeza y la conmoción en casa escena que se muestra como una simple dinámica familiar, también Eva hace que a través de su mirada, gestos, recuerdos en incluso las cosas que solo su silencio dicen, es algo que lleva a esta película a llamar la atención, al menos en mi caso fue así.

No hay subtramas u otros eventos primordiales en esta cinta, mucho menos una explicación clara de lo que va sucediendo, simplemente queda al ojo del espectador distinguir que es lo que esté film intenta decir con pocas palabras pero con muchos sentimientos a través de la protagonista. He visto pocas películas de Argentina y está sin duda merece ser vista por más personas, no victimiza a la protagonista, más bien la muestra real y petrificada ante la idea de que su mundo de alguna manera cambió y se detuvo aunque todo siguiera como normalmente era. Es una película corta pero que tiene mucho que aportar sobre todo a las mujeres, quienes entenderán mejor la trama y la historia, sobre todo cuando se trata de algo que te cambia como mujer y que define de alguna manera tu vida.

In a society that expects you to be a mother, a wife, a friend, a professional, the true meaning of being a woman and everything that comes with it is often pushed aside. The movie is called La Noche Sin Mi (“The Night Without Me”), and it portrays a woman who could be anyone we know, struggling to survive situations that gradually cause her to break as a human being.

The plot of La Noche Sin Mi shows us the life of a woman named Eva, who faces a somewhat unusual situation for the beginning of a film, where it becomes clear that she is pregnant. This brings her anxiety and an internal struggle to hide this truth from her family, who wait for her at home as they always do. Her children, a young girl and a teenage boy, behave like any typical siblings. Her husband is attentive and loving, although she seems a bit out of place while trying to act as she normally would, without letting her family notice anything strange.

This Argentine film, directed by Laura Chiabrando and María Laura Berch, presents a series of moments that may seem normal within the daily life of a family—a woman who is always there for them and who appears to have her life perfectly put together, but who now, because of this event, finds herself in deep misery. Perhaps not because of the event itself, but because of the way she may have ended up in that situation. It made me think that perhaps she was the victim of rape or a non-consensual act by her own husband. At first, the relationship seems normal; she is simply more distant and on edge. But later, there is a scene that completely changes what we believed to be a healthy relationship.

The film’s staging is important because it shows, in an almost claustrophobic way, Eva’s routine and how everything around her continues while she falls apart and no one notices—at least not until the end. I feel that actress Natalia Oreiro did an outstanding job as Eva; she gave shape and life to a woman in an unfavorable, unexpected situation, trapped by fear and anguish. You can feel the sadness and shock in every scene that appears to be just a simple family dynamic. Through her gaze, gestures, memories, and even the things her silence alone expresses, Eva brings something to the film that truly captures attention—at least that was the case for me.

There are no subplots or major additional events in this film, much less a clear explanation of what is happening. It is left to the viewer to interpret what the film is trying to say with few words but many emotions through its protagonist. I’ve seen few Argentine films, and this one definitely deserves to be seen by more people. It does not victimize the protagonist; instead, it portrays her as real and petrified by the idea that her world has somehow changed and stopped, even though everything else continues as it always has. It is a short film, but one that has much to offer—especially to women, who will better understand the plot and the story, particularly when it deals with something that changes you as a woman and defines your life in some way.
