Hola, amigos de la comunidad de HiveBookClub, espero se encuentren muy bien el día de hoy. Tenía tiempo sin pasar por la comunidad para recomendar algún libro o lectura; hace poco estuve revisando varios libros cortos que me llamaron la atención y entre esos está La metamorfosis de Frank Kafka. Esta historia la había escuchado de mi hermana porque le mandaron a hacer un trabajo de investigación en el liceo sobre el libro, pero nunca me imaginé que era tan interesante hasta que lo leí.

Hello, friends of the HiveBookClub community, I hope you are doing well today. It's been a while since I've visited the community to recommend a book or reading; recently I was reviewing several short books that caught my attention and among those is The Metamorphosis by Frank Kafka. I had heard this story from my sister because she was sent to do a research paper in high school about the book, but I never imagined it was so interesting until I read it.

La historia se centra en un hombre llamado Gregorio Samsa, un hombre muy inteligente y que tiene un gran trabajo con el que ayuda a mantener a su familia, a su hermana Greta y a sus padres. Todos conviven en la misma casa; Gregorio tiene una fuerte ansiedad por sus responsabilidades y lleva una gran carga siendo el que mantiene a su familia mientras que se ocupa de su trabajo, donde es muy responsable y nunca falta ni un solo día sin importar si está enfermo o no.

The story focuses on a man named Gregorio Samsa, a very intelligent man who has a great job with which he helps support his family, his sister Greta and his parents. They all live together in the same house; Gregorio has a strong anxiety about his responsibilities and carries a great burden being the one who supports his family while he takes care of his job, where he is very responsible and never misses a single day no matter if he is sick or not.

Un día Gregorio se despierta y empieza a temer que se pase la hora de entrada al trabajo y no pueda contarle a su jefe que todo fue por la situación en la que se encuentra, una extraña forma que tomó su cuerpo en una cucaracha gigante donde intenta poder levantar ese cuerpo tan pesado y mover al mismo tiempo esas patas que no le son de mucha ayuda, pero su mayor temor es que su familia vea la forma en la que se ha convertido y que no pueda encontrar una solución a su nueva apariencia.

One day Gregorio wakes up and begins to fear that it is too late to go to work and he cannot tell his boss that it was all because of the situation in which he finds himself, a strange form that took his body in a giant cockroach where he tries to lift that heavy body and move at the same time those legs that are not very helpful, but his biggest fear is that his family sees the form in which he has become and that he can not find a solution to his new appearance.

No solo es la apariencia de un bicho lo que le preocupa a Gregorio, es también el no cumplir con sus deberes tanto en su trabajo como en su hogar. Cuando empecé a leerlo, tenía la idea de que se convertía en un animal, pero no sabía qué tan profundo era el mensaje que trataba de darle sentido Frank Kafka a este relato. Es imposible no preguntarse al terminarlo si realmente Gregorio tenía un problema más allá de su apariencia y qué es lo que trata de darnos a entender esta lectura.

It is not only the appearance of a bug that worries Gregorio, it is also his failure to fulfill his duties both at work and at home. When I started reading it, I had the idea that he was turning into an animal, but I didn't know how deep a message Frank Kafka was trying to make sense of in this story. It is impossible not to wonder after finishing it if Gregorio really had a problem beyond his appearance and what this reading is trying to give us to understand.

Es la primera vez que leo algo de Franz Kafka; de hecho, este libro fue publicado en el año 1915 y, aunque tiene mucha fama dentro del mundo de la lectura, nunca me sentí inspirada a leerlo. Sin embargo, pienso que es una gran lectura, que te deja pensando en las cosas que pueden ocurrir cuando una persona que muestra siempre su mejor versión y que aparenta poder con todo al mismo tiempo, termina cambiando su vida por alguna enfermedad o discapacidad.

This is the first time I read something by Franz Kafka; in fact, this book was published in 1915 and, although it has a lot of fame within the reading world, I never felt inspired to read it. However, I think it is a great read, which leaves you thinking about the things that can happen when a person who always shows his best version and who seems to be able to handle everything at the same time, ends up changing his life due to some illness or disability.

Siento que Gregorio enfermó de alguna manera y que esa forma de animal fue dada para dar a entender que él ya no sería el mismo de antes y que ahora solo sería una carga tanto para su familia como para la sociedad. Es crudo y difícil poder entender cuando alguien no entra en el estándar de poder con todo, con un trabajo, con una familia, con su propia existencia, que al final termina siendo denigrado por la sociedad y perdiendo la capacidad de vivir dignamente.

I feel that Gregorio became ill in some way and that this animal form was given to imply that he would no longer be the same as before and that now he would only be a burden for his family and for society. It is raw and difficult to be able to understand when someone does not fit the standard of being able with everything, with a job, with a family, with his own existence, that in the end he ends up being denigrated by society and losing the ability to live with dignity.

Es una lectura que se puede hacer a cualquier edad, pero que como adultos creo que entenderíamos mucho mejor. Más allá de ser un animal, Gregorio muestra la vulnerabilidad de un ser humano que pierde sus capacidades y que se encuentra a merced de lo que otros decidan por él. Es triste, pero a la vez muestra la realidad de que la sociedad y nuestra propia familia muchas veces pueden aceptar que no seamos alguien que puede ser un ser humano destacable. Les recomiendo leerse este libro y sacar sus propias conclusiones; a mí me gustó y espero poder buscar más historias de Frank Kafka o de cualquier otro escritor que aún no he leído. Un abrazo. 🤗

It is a reading that can be done at any age, but that as adults I think we would understand much better. Beyond being an animal, Gregorio shows the vulnerability of a human being who loses his abilities and is at the mercy of what others decide for him. It is sad, but at the same time it shows the reality that society and our own family can often accept that we are not someone who can be a remarkable human being. I recommend you to read this book and draw your own conclusions; I liked it and I hope to look for more stories by Frank Kafka or any other writer I haven't read yet. Best regards. 🤗
