Splinterlands Battle Mage - Little League

Hello Splinterfans!

This week we have the new Battle Mage Secrets weekly challenge with the ruleset Little League.

With the Little League ruleset, you are limited to play monster with mana 4 or less. This can then make for some interesting lineups and battles.

The advantages can be gained here based on choosing a faster splinter or perhaps a stronger one. Sometimes other rules come into play that can affect your decision.

In today's battle, I decide to go for a magic attack and try to debuff a magic attack. Have I made the right decision?

Let's check this week's battle.

ROUND 1 - Failed Summoner vs - Fungus Flinger

With no melee attack possible, it limited the options for attack to magic and ranged attack. Therefore it was important to have some buff or debuff to your attack. I decided to debuff with the failed summoner and my opponent tried to buff with Fungus Flinger and Venari Marksrat. Who will win?

Fungus is taken out first and immediately buffs Madcap who takes a big chunk out of the Failed Summoner who reflects the damage back to him, almost killing him.

The Failed Summoner doesn't have as much effect as I would have liked, but he has reflected again against Venari Spellsmith before falling. Madcap falls next, plus Queen Mycelia as my attack really gets started. With no debuff and a buffed magic attack from Obsidian, it is hitting my opponent hard.

Venari Spellsmith falls last in round 1, leaving not much left with which to win against me.

ROUND 2

In the final round, Venari Marksrat is taken out and buffs my opposing Djinn Biljka who has a strong 4 attack now and uses it to take out Queen Mycelia.

However, it was all in vain as my Spirit Hoarder attacks and removes the buff in the next attack and finishing him off to boot.

Summary:

The Little League is a fun ruleset but you need to think about how you might debuff your opponent. Another option could have been to use immortalis for extra effect with the Failed Summoner. Alternately, my attack could have been weakened with a strong ranged attack.

How do you play the Little League ruleset?

Thanks for reading.

Your opponent could not utilize the buff of the maskrat rather effectively. It would have been quite problematic for you, but you scaled and what a stunning win for you there. A level of that particular magic summoner, woooooow, I have that at only level 2

Thanks, it was good when things work out as planned. Obsidian is a great summoner at level 6! Once of the first summoners that I upgraded.

#PeakMonsters shows the distinction between Rented and only Delegated (without rental payments done internally on #Splinterlands). 🤓

They are a great combo together. I think Queen Mycelia was the first legendary that I wanted to level up!
