Making Senna Herbal Tea
Hello Tea Fans!
After reading how @samstonehill did his 12 day master cleanse, I am hoping to do a shorter version of this myself, at least to start with. I think having a detox once or twice per year is good for you. Usually I like to do this in January and around Ramadan time.
Therefore I bought some Senna Tea to see how it tastes and if it works. I have never tried it before, even though I have drunk quite a few herbal teas. Inspired to use my new teapot for this very purpose, I was excited to make a post about it.
When I think of tea, I am often thinking of English Tea as you can see from my last post. I am not drinking too much English tea as it contains caffeine and I don't usually drink it for this reason, it is maybe 5 years or more now since I last drank coffee. Someone wrote me today that they reached 12 days without coffee and have the worst migraines ever, which is the usual withdrawal symptoms from coffee. After 2 weeks, you are past the worst of it then. With tea, I don't think you can have such bad side effects when you stop.
Onto making the tea:
I took 2 teaspoons of the leaves and put into the pot. It is enough for 2 cups of tea, more if you have smaller cups than I have here.
I fill my tea pot with hot water to the top and then let it brew for 10-15 minutes before trying the tea.
With my tea ready, I am good to go!
The final step is to add something sweet to eat with it. I have gone for a german gingerbread called Lebkuchen and some small marzipan chocolates which accompany the tea very well.
How are you making your tea?
What do you like to eat with it?
Thanks for reading.

Stopped to drink tea and coffee 6 years ago and even don't want to drink it now. It took nearly 2 years for friends and relatives to remember that I don't drink them ))) but chocolate is my passion he-he-he) Ifvto talk in general instead of tea and coffee I prefer to drink mors of fruit drinks made from fruits and berries
That's very good and healthy. Do you also drink hot chocolate?
Just in special cases. But my kids love hot chocolate very match! ))
I never tasted Senna Herbal tea. Maybe I should for cleansing? 🤔
Yes it seems pretty good for detoxing. Once or twice per day seems to work well.
We get decaffeinated green tea for me. I was drinking a lot of it when I was sick and now I have kind of stopped. I need to make it a daily thing.
I had a green tea phase, but haven't touched it in a long time.
Green tea and black tea are probably my favorites.
Hi @mypathtofire
How nice to see you here! Drinking tea is a healthy habit that can replace drinking coffee. Of course, if you abruptly stop drinking coffee, the migraines will be epic, so it is good to gradually reduce the number of cups per day, and replace it with tea.
It is a widespread custom in the world to accompany tea with some sweet, cookie or cake. In my particular case, since I live in a country where it is not common to drink tea, I do it without accompaniment, when I drink it hot I drink it alone or with a touch of sugar. When I drink it cold, I add a lot of ice, lemon and sugar, because I don't like very sweet drinks, in fact, I drink very black coffee without sugar; but I know that in other Latin American countries, such as Chile, it is common to drink tea in the afternoons, around 3:30 p.m., and they call it "Once", I don't know the reason for that name, and they serve it with milk and accompanied by salty or sweet cookies, with some jam, and even with a kind of avocado puree. I know this because I lived for several years surrounded by many Chileans.
Thanks for sharing this way of preparing tea.
Cheers!
Hi Sirena, good to hear from you.
I do like to drink different varieties of tea, I find it more healthy than coffee. I didn't drink coffee for a very long time.
I remember that drinking tea with lemon and honey was if you were sick, but now I quite enjoy this tea at any time. I think freshly squeezed lemon is good in tea.
That is cool about the Chileans having afternoon tea, they would fit in well in England drinking tea together 😀. It used to be much more popular in the UK before coffee took over, people would drink pots of tea together and eat cakes. I still have some fond memories of them as a child.
They acquired that custom, precisely from the English, when they were in those lands in the 19th century. I think it is a beautiful custom that, as far as I know, they kept, even when they migrated to other parts.
Hugs, I hope you have a nice weekend

I am not a huge fan of tea, but I drink quite a lot of coffee, usually 3 cups a day, and I am trying go to get it lower a little bit.
Hope that you can feel the benefit of that tea and the cleansing.

I was a big coffee drinker until I started having sleep problems. Since then I occasionally drink tea. This one is quite good for detoxing. 😀

10 to 15 minutes? Wouldn't the tea bag completely disappear inside the hot water? It's been long I took one, I think over 14 years now. I mostly take hot chocolate drinks instead.
This tea is just leaves and takes a long time to brew to have the effects. I didnt drink tea without teabags for a long time too.
I do like chocolate drinks too, now 1 or 2 mugs each day :D

I have never heard of senna tea before so I looked it up. Yeah, I don't think I want to mess with it, with no prooven efficacy for weight loss or detoxing. But if it works for you - good for you.
Your new tea pot looks nifty!
Thanks. I was happy to grab this tea pot in Action and grab some tea leaves to test it. It is really quick and easy to clean too. So nice drinking tea from a pot again, it feels more sophisticated somehow, like drinking wine.
Did you get any intense bowel movements as a result of the tea?
Yes, it gave me vibes of being in Delhi for the first time!
Lol. I know what you mean. Run fast to that toilet!
