Good old Painting and Decorating

Hello My Fellow DIYers. They say, if there is a job worth doing, its worth doing yourself! Finding competent workmen these days is like finding a needle in a haystack, luckily thats good motivation to do things yourself.

I thought I would share some of my latest project with you. My daughter's room is ready for renovation and she wants some new style as she is older now. Therefore, I was pretty happy at the opportunity to slap some paint down and get things done.

The first task was as you can see above, was to get the furniture out and then put all the protection down. Lucky I had rolls of this stuff and could cover the whole floor easily.

The bed was too big to move out, so I just wrappednin some plastic to protect it from any paint drops. I then covered the skirting boards and plug sockets with masking tape to protect them too.

I then removed the lamps and replaced them with decorating lamps, so I can work in the evenings too.

I also needed to fill in holes in the wall and give them a sanding down. I was really impressed by how well the machine sanded them down.

The only thing was that it makes things quite duaty that isn't nice. Dusting down everything including surfaces and vacuuming is a good idea.

I then used some acryl type filler to cover cracks in the wall between ceiling and wall where the house has settled. Also around the door or skirting in some places.

After leaving that to dry for 48 hours, it was paint time.

I was really looking forward to this as it was the best part until I realised painting on a ceiling angle was not so much fun as a regular wall.

Anyhow, I have this really great paint that was recommended by a decorater that I knew and it is used by the professionals. It is so good and I noticed it could be done in just one coat.

I was making swift work of it and my wife was supposed to give me a hand but disappeared. Anyhow, with the paint work all done, all that was left is some wallpapering which i will leave for another post.

Touching paint isnt the same as touching grass, but its good to get your hands dirty which makes a change from those boring Teams meetings.

Thanks for reading.

Lots of fun! Those projects are a lot of work but it feels great when you finish! Funny how the wife disappeared on you when you needed her help... lol Having good quality paint does make things easier and it looks like it came out great!

Yeah, it feels good to take care of your own DIY projects like this and do your kids rooms. Lucky it was a fairly simple job. Nice to do some #proofofwork for a change.

Haha I bet Mick. It's good once you get everything done! I've got the living room to do after this. It's a never ending story.
