3 Year Hive-aversary

The time has flown by very quickly and I have managed to reach my 3 year Hive-aversary. I initially signed up to Hive on the 24th of December 2021 and embarked on this fantastic journey.

Along came my 1st, 2nd and now 3rd year anniversary. It has been a pretty intense year for me and despite some of my ongoing health problems, tried to continue blogging regularly on Hive.

If I look back over the year, I've notcied much less on chain activity, but this can also be where I haven't been active in the most hyped/supported areas on Hive such as Vibes or Holozing where you may get higher curation but are not things that have interested me.

This seems to have followed the ebbs and flows of the Hive token falling to new lows without getting new users despite lots of spending given out by the DHF for marketing. People are initially attracted here mostly to try and earn and with a low token price it doesn't work.

Anyhow, the token seems to have gotten a new lease of life lately and things are looking better for Hive.

Looking back at my own year on Hive, it has been shaped by lots of Splinterlands that has now faded as we close the year out. In fact I was even playing Gods Unchained and some other online gaming but as the year comes to a close, I haven't gamed much at all.

The highlight of the year was to visit Hamburg and the Hivebuzz Party there which was amazing. It was good to meet some of the real life Hivers and see how passionate they are and how some can party very hard core! 😂

I also parted ways with Betsy my old car during the year and have not replaced her yet. Instead I have been cycling until the weather stopped that.

As the year progressed my posts were then mostly threetunetuesday, cinetv or some technical posts or random personal blog posts about DIY, gardening or Hive.

As the world evolves ever more into Clownworld and you can be restricted on web2 for going against the algorithm, it is important to have a place to blog and make content and Hive is one of those places.

I am pondering what is my future on Hive as I do grapple with if it is worth it? I think it is worth whatever you want to make it. Hive is no longer the new tech and is less decentalised than other platforms, but it still has lots of things going for it that do not exist on other platforms and others cannot recreate this formula here.

A big thanks to all my Hive friends who have supported me this year and I wish you an amazing and successful 2025.

Thanks. I still remember the early days that took time to build up rewards. It was quite a grind.

7 years is quite a number, that is some dedication and commitment. The longer we are in the game (and outside of fiat), the more compounding can work for us, rather than against!

When I switch between writing on Twitter and writing here on Hive, I conciously make a mental shift. Even with the functionality to create support short form content - Hive is not an environment that rewards or fosters reactionary content.

Legacy social media rewards and encourages a shallower and more kinectic mode. Hive is closer to old style forums, and a more measured conversation. It certainly doesn't mean a lack of passion, rather that passion is expressed with depth.

Hive is like a friendly tight knit community and I was lucky enough to meet many in Hamburg.

Twitter I guess is another thing altogether, it certainly doesn't bring you the closeness and real of Hive.

Congratulations on your 3rd year. We cannot all jump on the bandwagon of the most supported or curated niche, as we might not have the affinity or the interest to be there. I think these niches have their seasons and they fade with time. Congratulations again.

Congrats on three years! I hit it this year too but really didn't blog until around two years ago. Splinterlands is how I arrived, it's a shame it's not doing nearly as well now. Saying goodbye to your car Betsy must have been hard, especially without a replacement. It would be hard to live here without a car because everything is so spread out. Hopefully this next year treats us well, it really is what you make it and Hive does offer more decentralization, but the debt has me worried.

Thanks. It's a shame about Splinterlands, but I guess the NFT hype was a 1 cycle deal and no development of the game in this time, it's to be expected.
Agree, we see with Elon smashing the ban hammer this week that having decentralised social media is important. Whether Hive can survive it's debt next cycle should be interesting thing to check.

The Hive token price, one of the great mysteries of mankind, maybe not the price so much as the trends. The way it can pump against the general market direction is pretty unreal at times.
As for decentralised and new tech, yeah it is not as all that as many maxis would have us believe.
Hive is unique though, it is a great social platform and I love the way you can earn crypto for engaging. For some third world countries Hive really can be a life changer, which for some in the West can be hard to understand.
Web2 it is not and won't have that mass adoption, but it is great to put memories down on the blockchain.
Don't get me started on the DHF or vibes.
Congrats on your 3 years Hive birthday Steve, I was a couple of months before you.
As for the gaming, I never really got the appeal of NFTbased games, they don't really have the excitement level of a PS5 game to me. We are all different though, and there is something for everyone on Hive.
The price though is anyone's guess as to where it will go!

I regret in some ways to not buy Hive at 0,16. It is a true bargain now looking back in hindsight, however it is a very risky play.

I really agree that Hive is great for people to earn in some third world countries, which is in itself a great thing. The DHF and shenanigans are what they are, whale games and I put them out of my mind.

I know what you mean about NFT games, the didn't really survive the hype and I don't really see NFTs rebounding anytime soon.

Thanks for dropping by Ed, the 3 years have gone by fast and it has been great to have been here. The token price was important initially but staying for the community has been cool.

Hopefully 2025 is where we make life changing wealth and if we look after our health, we can enjoy it. Wish you a cracking 2025 too!
