RE: 5 minute freewrite 2798 prompt an ugly truck

The kid never got into any trouble, never arrested, held down a good job, and was buying his house. He was separated from his wife and met up with an old girlfriend who was on heavy drugs. He started using, and one day he broke into someone's house and went into a closet to do his drug. He set the closet on fire. The lady was an old school teacher whom the judge knew. She told how things that were made for her by her students were destroyed and how she could not replace them. I am not making light of what he did, it was wrong. I just do not think it was worth 10 years of his life, and it was his first offence. People who have done much worse have gotten less time.
