5 minute freewrite 3014 prompt in her company

Happy Valentine's Day, Mama. This is the 4th one we have missed saying I love you. Mom loved all holidays except for Halloween. Christmas was her favorite, followed by Thanksgiving.

She never missed giving me a call first thing in the morning on my birthday. On my last birthday, when she was still with us, she came over later in the day with a gift for me and sang Happy Birthday to me again. I picked up my phone and recorded her. It was the only time I did that, and for the last four birthdays, I play the video on my birthday and smile and cry. I would give anything to be in her company once again.

There will be a tent Revival in Palm Bay next week, and my sister asked if I wanted to go with her. This will be a hard thing to do without Mom. Mom loved to go to Revivals, she always took her best friend, Miss Lilly, and they went every day. She was raised Catholic but became a Baptist after leaving home. They both loved going to Pentecostal churches, too.

I am almost 70 years old and still feel like I need my Mom. If I could sit on her lap and hug her, it would warm my heart so much. Sometimes when I look at her photos, I can feel her love, and sometimes looking at them makes me want to cry. This August, the month of my birth, she will be gone for 5 years, it seems longer to me.

I get upset when I look at this picture, it is the last one I took before her stroke. She wanted to talk to me outside, and we talked for a long time. She talked about her wishes in case something happened to her. Three days later, she had a stroke and was unable to speak to us. I have always wondered if she knew something was wrong and did nothing about it. I miss her so much.
