This is my post for #freewriters 2907 prompt step back hosted by @mariannewest

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone stopped arguing about politics, because "really" tHEy will do what tHEy want to do, and no one can change that by arguing. What we need to do is step back from arguing, and look at what we have done to the planet that we all live on. But we can not even seem to agree on what is happening or what is causing it. We should try to remember we are on the same planet and it is for the good of all.

I do not know much about what is going on with "OUR" ozone, but they have been warning us about it for as long as I can remember.

I can only talk about what I know and that is the things "they" did to the river. It is/was a brackish water lagoon, inlets were dug, which changed the salinity. We do not have many places with a rocky bottom for juvenile fish to hide until they grow up, but we did have 3 large coves with it, and they filled them in for a road to cross there.

We had huge mangrove swamps that were an estuary for all types of fish, shrimp, crabs, and birds. They built dikes around them and closed them off from the river, which they call mosquito impoundments, and they put poison in them.

They said freshwater was bad for the river and turned it to flow elsewhere. This caused a huge algae bloom, which spread for a hundred miles or more. It killed the fish that could not get out of it. It killed thousands of birds because they starved to death. The seagrass died because it did not get any sunlight. Manatees eat seagrass. They started eating a type of algae grass, but they could not digest it, and hundreds died from the blockage.

Now they keep pumping or dumping sand on our beaches to save the houses built along them. The sand gets taken away by a storm, and they put more back. No one cares where the sand is going. It is covering and killing the reef. The turtles try not to lay their eggs in the pumped sand. If they can, they will lay their eggs on top of the dune.

That is only a few things I know have been done to a five square mile area near me, and that is not all. Imagine if all was known. All of the swamp land that was cleared and built on was because the right people filled the right pockets.

Sorry, I could go on and on with things that have been done to change the way nature intended them to be.
