This is my post for #freewriters 2886 prompt solid ground hosted by @mariannewest

It has been raining every day for over a week. I have had to let water out of the swimming pool twice to keep it from overflowing. There is not much solid ground in our yard. The areca palms are standing in water, it will not hurt them. What all of this rain is hurting are my pineapples. I have lost six, one being the Maui Gold that I bought a couple of months ago.

We have five stocks of bananas hanging on the banana plants that are going to split because of all the rain we have been getting. One stock is close to being ready to cut, but it needs a few more days.

I am trying to use up the last stock, so I made banana bread today, and my husband gave his sister a bag full of them.

I bought wood yesterday to build Rudy a new house. I think it was just in time. I think he wanted a new house because every night he has been flipping his box house upside down. Last night I could not sleep, so I got up at three and saw it standing on end. I fixed it for him, but he flipped it back. I fixed it again, and the same, and he flipped it back. I fixed it again, and he did the same.

Today, my husband built him his new house. I wanted more room for him to play on top of it, so we made him a front porch. That is where his doorway is located. The hole on the side is his treat hole. When I made the box for him, he chewed a hole in the side of it, and when I cleaned his cage every day, he would stick his head out, and I would give him a piece of carrot. I drilled a few small vent holes in it to help get air flow through it because I was thinking maybe he was flipping the box because it was too hot inside of it.

He just woke up and is running around his cage. He is jumping on top of his new house, running to one end and then the other. Now he ran inside his front door and out the treat hole. He is now back on top. I think he is enjoying his new house, this makes me happy. I was afraid he would not like it.

Yes, I do love him, even though it can be a pain to collect his food every day. I am so upset over my pineapples. I do not like the new soil I put them in, and I used a lot of perlite in it, it holds to much moisture.

Sorry to hear about your pineapples. Too much rain is not fun to have. Seems our rainy season is over for now.
Oohh banana bread sounds good. Great way to use your bananas. Mmmm 😋
Also, glad Rudy got a new house. 😆 he is one lucky bunny !LOL 😆
Have a wonderful weekend 🎉

Thank you, I used to have good soil for the pineapples, but we ran out of it and to get more, we have to order a dump truck load. Years ago, when we bought it, it cost 1,500 dollars for a load. We used it for the areca palms, and we are not going to grow any more of them.
