This is my post for #freewriters 2820 prompt I’m not prey! hosted by @mariannewest

My husband saw the evil neighbors getting ready to leave, so he stopped at their mailbox to tell them that the wooden gate they had leaned up against the pole keeps falling into our driveway. They headed out, and when they neared him, he put his hand out to get them to stop. They both looked at him and sped off.

The County told them they can not block this road from us, they refused to give them a permit for the gate, so they have the wooden one only leaning against the pole, it is not attached. We have a 40 foot easement, but they do not want us using it, and we do not have the money it will take to clear the woods and have road fill brought in.

I’m not prey! And I am tired of feeling like I am being preyed on by these evil people. They are money people and think they can do what they wish and to whoever they wish. They do not even live there, they call it their getaway in the woods. They are from South Florida and he is an eye doctor. I want to hire a lawyer and let him deal with them, but my husband does not want to do anything. He says why start more trouble as long as we have a way to and from home, and their gate stays out of our driveway. I told him if I try to leave and it is blocking me in, I will tie to it and drag it down the road, I might even run over it!!!!

I am not prey!
But for now, I will bite my tongue
because I know, one day,
my time will come.

Since the time homes were built here
That has been the only road.
For 60 years, it was shared.
And no one cared.

A tunnel was cut through the woods.
When drug dealers moved next door,

We wanted to separate their "visitors"
from ours.
At first, we did not trust,
and did not want to get
in the middle of a bust.

As it turned out, they were the best
never any trouble,
they passed the test.

We did catch a cop spying on them,
and not long after they moved.

Hurricane destroyed the tunnel.
We went back to the old road, but
then the property was sold.
Little did we know it was to a toad.

Met them once, they seemed nice,
but not so nice when we saw them twice.
She does not want us to use the road,
with all her gall,
she even called the law.

We worked on opening the tunnel
because she said she wants her privacy.
The next day, we come home,
and she has everything cleared.
There is no privacy between the roads.

She tells us we can not cross her property.
We took our deed to a lawyer,
And he wrote her a pretty letter.
It said we did not only have
the right to come and go
across her property, but
we could pave the entire fourty foot.

I know where I would like to put my foot.
or maybe my husband's foot, it is size 13.

Even the Cable guy says she is evil
He said someone needs to
shoot her.

I would not go that far,
but I might clip her with my car.
photo is mine

Sometimes the ones we expect to be troublesome usually turn out to be the peaceful ones. He drug dealers were peaceful until they moved and the one you expect to be civil and gentle turns out to be the tyrant. That's life.
