5 minute freewrite 2803 prompt pass me the helmet
This is my post for #freewriters 2803 prompt pass me the helmet hosted by @mariannewest
Some of you will remember my tunnel, and for the ones who do not know what went on, I will try to make it short. When we moved here we had a nice neighbor and the only road to our place was on his land.
We have a forty foot easement but at the entrance we were fine, and halfway down it the road veers to where it is over the forty foot. The couple that lived there had not problem with us using the rest of the road. They moved back to California to be with their kids and rented their place.
on the left is the original road, entrance to our tunnel road is the hole on the right
We soon found out the renter was a big time drug dealer and my husband wanted to separate our car traffic from theirs, so he cut a hole in the woods and made us a different road. It is the top picture. One day coming home someone was standing in the middle of our new road, and as we got closer, he put his finger to his lips and reached in his shirt and pulled out a badge. We waved and drove by, but the guy never got busted while living there. That has nothing to do with what I am writing about. They were the best neighbor we ever had, they never came over and never any trouble with them.
The drug dealer moved out, and not long after, we had a hurricane and could no longer use the road my husband built, so we went back to using the road that we used when we moved here. But then the property was sold to a couple from South Florida. She thought we had no right going through her property and tried to make us use a road that goes to a factory and then cut a road through his bamboo fence. We hired a lawyer to write her a letter to tell her about our easement. This made her mad, and she told us she wanted her privacy so we had to get the road my husband built back opened up. We refused and she called the law and we were told we would be arrested for trespassing if we used it. I am sure she was not truthful with him.
We both went fishing and my husband got home first and called me to tell me she cut down the tunnel over the road my husband built. That opened everything up, I am not sure what she meant by she wanted her privacy. I was so hurt because I loved our tunnel.
Next, she got the tree trimming company to dump their mulch in a line, leaving just enough room to get my diesel truck through.
We contacted the tree company and someone came out and looked and said he sees exactly what she is trying to do, they stopped giving her mulch.
Well, pass me the helmet because here we go again. Several years ago they went to the county and wanted to put a gate across the road, the county told her she could not do it because when we bought it was the only road to our place, even though now we use the made road.
They put the metal fence up a couple of months ago, it is even in our easement. Now today we see they plan on closing off the rest of it. My husband says to not say anything about them putting the fence, to just tell them when we get ready to use the easement, it will need to come down. I say why let them put it there, I would like to go to the county with it, but I guess once again we will let them do what they want to do and walk on our rights. Sorry, it was longer than I thought it would be.

Hmnnn, some neighbours could be a pain in the ass indeed. Well, pass me the helmet for there are more work to be done.
I never knew people could be like that, it opened my eyes.
Yeah, that's how life is. The people you least expect to act in a weird way are the ones even doing it. Be courageous
!BBH
Evil neighbor needs to do the foolishness first, then get caught and this be documented as well ... they can walk and then trip on your rights and then get caught in the mud...
I hope so. They even cleared their property. I know there was gopher turtle nests on it, they are protected. I looked on the county website and did not see any permit to do so.
Why do people have to be so difficult? I know, there's not a simple answer to that question!
She did not get title ins when she bought the place, so she did not know we had a rightaway through her property. Instead of asking, she thought she would stop us from going through it.
Esta es una historia de aprendizaje y reflexión de que podemos ser mejores personas y llevarnos bien, pero a veces no es posible, las diferencias son más fuertes. Esperamos pueda solucionar y todo salga bien. Saludos
